YES! I just dealt with this last night. I had a lot of tights that I’d purchased in a liquidation last fall. I finally realized that I should just list the white tights too even though they had yellowing. I started an auction. I don’t even care how it ends, but I’d be happy to get a couple bucks instead of nothing. I just love your videos! Missed you yesterday, so glad you uploaded a video today. Hope you’re well. ❤️
I sell lots of low cost items in my store but always have calculated shipping. I find low cost items sell quickly, easy to pack/ship, have few returns and I get good reviews. I’m always running 10% to 70% off sales based on how long they have been in the store to get stale inventory cleared out. It works for me.
@@ottothorsen When I create a markdown sales promotion it lets me filter by number of days each item has been active. I filter it on 365 to 999 days to see what comes up. I then take appoint screen of the old items and remove them from my store and inventory....
I sold last year just the same way you are talking about and the same things you sell. Also from the same place you buy. I just picked up my taxes from 2020 and I only made 1500 for the whole year. I will never sell Heath and beauty again. There is no money in it. To many people selling the same thing. I changed what I sell and its much better
You said the important key in business: "cash is king", indeed. When people are just getting started it's harder to see the big picture because money is usually tight at first. You have to build capital so when you see a great deal you have the money on hand. I'm in vintage, when I run across a bargain I need money to buy. When you've got bills to pay it's harder to put the money back into it, but you have to or your business will suffer. As a seller, I need to be at the right place at the right time, with cash. Thanks so much Lindey, you da best!
@@bugsyjonesband You're right, George, they do, or at least they give up hope. I guess when you're trying so hard at first, the least little negative thing can discourage you. I'm thankful mine was good, I might have buckled, too. You have to get thick skin when you deal with people.
Wow! This video couldn't have come at a perfect time! You are so right! I sell a couple small profit items but sell year round because of vacationing & global warming. I have sales constantly but it's activity and brining in other sales & not to mention finally getting rid of old listings. I find it works and it's a constant flow of income, yes it may be small profit but it truly brings in higher priced items being sold full price rather than me sending a marked down offer!
Loved this video! It gave me the motivation to list a few items from my death pile and while doing so, I made two sales! Thanks for always putting out good content!
I just started selling on eBay/Facebook/Offer up in February. And I'd have to say that is so true about eBays algorithm. My eBay sales have really started picking up. My sales on eBay seem to have doubled in the pasted weeks. It's awesome. It's very addicting. Thanks for all the tips and tricks Lindey!
Thank you Lindsay for all the great advice. I've been selling on ebay for 8yrs and I'm still learning new things. Because of you I ordered my first wholesale box from wholesale Ninja can wait to see how this goes. I will remember your advice as I am listing. Thank you again..❤
Since I started selling stuff, it's crazy how much small business have to give away to compete with large business to a point we're literary giving it away.
Thank you! This is the first explanation that has made sense. Now that you said it out loud -- the part about listing items you sourced to break even or loss -- it seems so obvious.
I'd say it's a good strategy if you have a store where most items are the same type like Health & Beauty. If you have a store with a large variety of items like mine (Jeans, shoes, water filters, VCR's, toys, auto parts, and various thrifted goods), I'm not so sure about it because 99.9% of buyers are just buying the 1 item only and are not likely to browse around the store. However, I do list a lot of lower dollar fast selling items with $5-10 profit margins to generate a higher number of sales to make the algorithm happy and that does work. You are awesome Lindey!!!
I can understand this a little more now. It’s still frustrating as a small seller to see people selling items like Oral B replacement heads for $5.99 free shipping. These sell for $25 all day every day on Amazon and Walmart.
Very honest explanation & straight to the point. Other RU-vidrs who claim to be top eBay or Amazon sellers will take you around the world telling unrelated stuff before telling the real deal. Most of them just wanna sell their courses. You doing great job with sharing ur honest information & knowledge. 👍🏻👌👋
Some great tips Lindsey, makes total sense, sell off what you can as premium and then unload the rest to add to your overall profit! I’ve fine this with used 1980’s cassette tapes, and I have seen those junk drawer eBay lots. I will be doing that when I get the chance!
Loss leaders work really well in grocery stores, but on ebay I've never found that to work too well cause most people buy just 1 item and call it a day. But I can understand the idea of doing it to get your store more out there for ebay to push up. But some stores seem to have all loss leaders in them. So my thinking has always been that these store/sellers on ebay are just using ebay for traffic to their website. I think many people use ebay more as advertisement and don't make any money off of their items. But then when they ship the item to you, they have all their info about their website and to shop there for their good products. That's the only thing I can think of when it comes to making the prices unprofitable on ebay.
Some retail stores don't even make profit from their items they sale .They only carry it to attract traffic and hope that you buy items that do make them profit.
I think that's how Dollar Tree works. At my store, everything is $1.00. People check out and tell me they came in for one or two items, and their basket is full!
Big thumbs up Lindey! I sell dvds and struggle with the $5 ones. I do lot them up occasionally. But I would think someone would want to choose their own bundles, so I have multiple purchase discounts that I advertise the heck out of. You are right though, I get one sale then get 5 more. lol And I just watched a Nay-Lo video yesterday about odd things to lot up and they talked about junk drawer lots.
All solid info. My rule is 7.50 or less it goes to yard sale for a buck or 2. I've been thinking about putting stuff in junk drawer lots, you've inspired me to look more into it.
I don't think I would go through the time to separately list items that are not profitable, my time is valuable. I would rather list the items in lots, even if I made less.
I DO SELL SOME ITEMS WHERE I MAKE ZERO PROFIT ON ONE ITEM. I DO MAKE SOME PROFIT IF THEY BUY MORE THAN ONE. I DO THIS FOR THE ALGORITHM. I MAY BE CRAZY BUT IT SEEMS LIKE I SELL ONE OF THESE ZERO PROFIT ITEMS THAN A LITTLE BIT LATER I GET SALES ON ITEMS I DO PROFIT FROM. I ALSO THINK THAT IT GETS BUYERS LOOKING AT MY OTHER ITEMS AS WELL. YOUR VIDEO CONFIRMS I AM NOT CRAZY. =)
Here's another "trick"...maybe...I notice if I spend time double checking what I wrote , etc...maybe changing the title or the price or shipping, seems Ebay thinks I'm an active seller, and I usually notice I get more watchers and even some sales!
Here's a twist. If the item is thin and will fit into the "thickness gauge" that they use to quality and item or differentiate the item from First Class package and a simple envelope. ( I forget what that thickness is but it's tight. Thin Items can ship for the cost of a postage stamp. whatever that is, I'll say plus or minus 50 cents. The amount of folks that will claim they never received it is small enough to make a good profit long term. I see sellers selling tape recorder belts, those thin lithium batteries - items of like size. Flat.
Reminds me of when I worked for Gap during college and they would put entire racks of jeans for sale at $1.00 and make a killing because people would buy other items while in the store. Works like a charm! Same idea as having a regular sale but on a more extreme level.
I've never seen you before and you came about as a recommend video. The clickbait got me. Thought I'd head in and tell you my negative thoughts. You know your stuff. Nice job.
I sold last week a $6 free shipping mascara and I did trigger other sales and offers and before I had sold it I had gone in and did the refresh on some listings because I didn't really have time to listen so I when and tweet stuff like you tell us to
Just recently found you. You’re videos are AWESOME! Do you have a video on pros/cons of setting up an eBay store vs remaining an individual seller? Thank you Lindey.
????? Hey Lindey boo! So I've noticed that a lot of people are now buying from wholesale ninjas! Does that mean that the items they have will soon be over saturated?
Car dealerships do that. They run an ad for a car for 15,999 but when you go and look at it , it’s a manual transmission and no cruise control and no power locks/windows etc and they know % people will bump themselves and pay more money to have those options they want ..
Loss Leaders work in retail stores because the customer has all the other products in front of their eyes. I myself buy stuff on eBay but rarely go browsing through their eBay stores. I'm not a "repeat customer" and I don't think the majority of eBay buyers are either.
I think some of that $5 w/ free shipping strategy also keeps newer resellers from getting into that market or specific product. for example, I find lots of great books all of the time, but I won't buy them. It's not worth the effort for me to make a $1 because I'm not a book dealer. It's kind of a double edged sword.
Great video! Everything makes so much sense. Your videos always have so much information. I actually have a few items that if I go much lower I might only make 29 cents lol….But now after listening I’m going to give it a try and also consider the “Junk Draw” because I have a lot of stuff! Lol Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your the BEST!!!🌹 🌼🌸🌻🌺
I had to see the date of this Video,🤔 Because I believe I had watched a recent vid where you basically have now changed your Tune regarding "Wholesale Nijas" From 2 years ago. I could be wrong though..let me know👍😉🇨🇦
Another angle is that the seller also has a website for their other higher value merchandise and they will give you a discount code to go shop on that website.
If you sell ONLY items under $10 free ship and still haven't switched to managed payments you can switch paypal over to micro transactions and not get that 30 cents tacked onto every sale. It works out to being about the same at $10 but closer to $5 it's rather worth it. So far I don't see managed payments offering this service. And ebay isn't switching newer accounts over to managed payments yet.
I think I have a couple items that are $5 with free shipping. Yes, they are items that are low in weight. 3-5 ounces but they are items I've had for a while. Like a professional sports team key chain that has changed its name and/or moved and old model phone cases. I also have items that I have not (yet) adjusted up the price to go along with increased shipping costs. But it's not a big deal because I have items that more than make up the difference.
Greetings. I love your videos for two reasons. first because I improve my level of English and second because I also sell on ebay I have reviewed all of your videos, I don't remember you ever having one of the claim when a package got lost at the post office. I appreciate this information because I do not know how to make a claim for lost package that pays for shipping that could be returned at the buyer's request.
I sold a lot of things in the beginning at a very low profit just for the good feedback. It worked like a charm and I became a top rated seller pretty quickly.
On the 5.00 model no packaging or label is included. A poly bag and label adds another 3-10 cents to cost. I see many sales from China under the 5.00 price with free ship. What many people don't know is that China pays less for international shipping so the company is making a much higher profits than a U.S. seller. Lets not race to the bottom. Just sell high quality items at a proper margin. No games.
I just had a negative feedback for an item that they canceled on had to get a hold of eBay to get them to remove it I have not had any negative feedback in a couple years and boom I got 1 sad thing is they are the one that canceled the order lol
The reason you think it triggers more sales is because it is a low dollar amount so ebay's algorithm will calculate you can do ten low dollar amounts vs one big dollar amount.
as far as what your general topic is ... Amazon is a horror story with books. most of them operate at a break even or loss. They made money of the first 500 units then dump the rest below cost.
》》 PRO TIP 《《 >> THE REAL REASON that Milk is in the back of Most Grocery Stores is >> Trucks Deliver in The Back of the Store.. ** NOBODY** Wants to move Heavy Milk to the Front of the store.. BASIC COMMON SENSE ..
I need to explore items I can use for this purpose. I sell vintage housewares so I don’t know what I can list but I have entire weeks where I sell NOTHING on eBay but sell quite a bit (same stuff!) on Mercari or Etsy. eBay is a moody bi**h.
????? Thanks for another great video...You may have been asked this before...sorry! Have you ever had such a BAD Wholesale Ninjas box or another company... how did you recover?
????? As I struggled to remove a tag this morning I remembered that "Lindey told us what to get on Amazon that makes this easy to do. What is the name of that product? I went to Amazon and typed in removed tags--and all it showed me was skin tags??? I knew that wasn't right. Thanks.
Years ago, ebay had a program where you could select certain related items as suggestions, under YOUR main item. Now ebay did away with that - Long time ago... They place competitors ads as recommendations. disgusting what they have become . I've been there almost from the beginning.. since 1998
