Absolutely amazing story about your Uncle, and then I really like how you brought the Wall Street smoke and mirrors to light, showing that average return is nothing but bullshit and that you need to look at compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) which considers the compounding effect of the negative years into the calculation. My complaint about most financial "advisers" is that they are nothing more than mutual fund salesman parading around as if their some kind of genius authority on all things financial. Thank you for sharing this content with others. Keep up the great work!

After 10 years of business and investing everything you say is 100% true. Took so long to overcome the scarcity mindset and now have to rebuild everything which creates still some of that. Creating more cash flow/income within yourself is so important and keep building on that. Look forward to learning more from you, need to get back up more than anything and want the abundant life.

At 11:30 you state the US Stock Market has only done 9% TOTAL adjusted for inflation since 2000. Can you elaborate on the math for this? Or at least point me in the right direction on how this was determined? Thank you! Just ordered your book, excited to get started.

Yes here's the exact numbers: The Dow Jones reached as high as 11,722 in the year 2000, doing so on January 14th. Fifteen years later, on January 14, 2015, the Dow closed at 17,427 - or 12,707 inflation-adjusted to year-2000 dollars. That’s an 8.4% increase.

Garrett I spent 10 years to learn how to do business in my field , I have 30k net keeping on the side every year after all my business and personal expenses including hobbies and paying myself , My business is an active income type , I want to invest into another type , real estate, to spend less time and building assets( properties) instead of my business assets ( inventory ,retail ) My inventory brings home 30% sales , Do you think is that better to open another branch or go with real state ? I don't want to own a job , even now is too much and I can not buy my time , I have a couple of employees already , I opened a couple of shops like an entrepreneur and sold them that is exciting, but working at my own shop even if it is profitable doesn't make me happy same as that , My real problem is my face make money at my own shop , it looks like I got married with my shop , working more than all my employees, while my inventory is small goods items and out of control( huge amount value per unit and big quantity) I am unable to trust anyone , please advise ,

That’s not the formula for calculating the average return %. You do (B/A)^(1/n) - 1 where B is the money you end up with and A is the money you start with and n is number of years. So in your case B =A your 2yr gain is 0%

Issue is he makes an assumption that everyone has entrepreneurial skills in them. It’s like losing weight and being fit, there’s different ways to get there depending on your physiological make up, genetics, interests etc…. There are many ways to Rome and this is just one of them.

You are blatantly saying that the stock market only returned 9% in 19 years...? Are you high? Or is this worded so that it makes the stock market seem insignificant? Because the data collected by everyone else suggests an average return of about 7% per year, yet you just told a whole crowd 9% total in 19 years.

Adjusted for inflation it has been under 9 percent from 2000-2015. Stephen Dean researched it, it has been published, and we can show it.

@@GarrettGundersonTV I'm sorry. It sounds like you advocate against the stock market and I'm sure you got burned by it at some point. I encourage people to do their own research. It sounds like you have, and you have your take on it, and that's fine. Personally, I invest in the stock market because it returns more than you're saying and I have my own returns to prove that to me, it has an extremely low barrier to entry now, etc... everyone has their reasons for their choices. It just bothers me that you rag on the market and your followers eat that up without doing their own research. Stuff like that hurts people.

We have videos coming up that we show the actual returns year by year, people can decide for themselves, but the people still quoted the returns of the 90s are not going to be happy with real returns.
