How to make Monthar/Mohantal using Condensed Milk | Mumtaz Hasham

Perfect for all happy occasions.
This recipe was shared by Nellie Dungersi. She uses mug measurements, I converted them to measuring cup.
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups Besan/Chick pea flour
1 1/2 cups Semolina/Sooji
1/2 cup milk powder
1 tin condensed milk
1 tsp cardamom powder
Saffron few strings
Pinch of Yellow food colour
1/2 cup almonds coarsely chopped
Chopped or powdered Pistachios and Almonds for garnish
Mix Besan/Chickpea flour and Semolina with the butter on the stove until golden brown. While mixing add cardamom powder and saffron. After golden brown turn off stove add milk powder and condensed milk. Add food colour. Mix well and put in tray. Garnish with pistachios and almonds. Must be completely cool before cutting into pieces

Jazak Allah Kharien for uploading my favourite sweet recipe. Do we have to grease two trays for this recipe.

The quantity is more and I didn’t want it too thick so I greased two trays

Salaam again! Could I use another color for the food coloring? Would it look strange to use pink ?

Khadija Jaffer besan is already yellow if you add different color to it not sure what will be the result. You can try - it will be trial and error
