I never let it cure for 28 days. I always bake my dishwasher safe mod podge projects in the oven for 1 hour at 175 degrees and it always cures perfectly and is a stronger cure. Not sure why you said not to bake it. Your mugs are really nice!!
@loralu490 Either they're unaware or they're going the safe route of following what the manufacturer says to do so people can't blame them if things go wrong.
This was so helpful thank you both for doing this. I am new to using mod podge and had no clue you can mix color into mod podge. I'm so getting ready to make Halloween mugs and that info helped so much!❤ thank you!🎃
Such a great idea!!!!!! These would make awesome gifts!!! My kids want to make mugs with their pictures with names & year/sayings for Christmas presents this year for family. We're also planning on making our own mugs on our next family craft night, for hot chocolate/coffee for this winter's cold days/nights. SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!
I have this sealer in my craft box. It’s my non negotiable go to when I make my coffee mugs. I used this dishwasher Mod Podge for a year now and have made many cups and glasses both as gifts and my own use. In my case I made designs on my cups using water slide and vinyl sticker transfer papers and my ink jet printer. And they were all successful. I sealed with the Mod Podge three times. My cups are hanging on my coffee bar ready to use everyday. I don’t wash them in the dishwater though because why when you can hand wash them. My cups are about a year old now and shows no signs of their design coming off or looking faded. The recommendation cure is 28 days but who can wait that long? I didn’t. I used my cups after three days of cure. Theyre still going going and going. Look like new as the day I made them.
I thought you can let it dry for 2 hours and then put it in your oven on a cool seating like 175 for like 15 minutes I think then let it cool thin rinse it off then dry and it's ready I saw it on another RU-vid channel😊😊😊😊
Thank you so so much for this video. Question how did you do that mug that looks like flakes of gold leaf maybe mixed in modge podge and the mug is dipped into it? i love thelook.
Can I do this with wood like adding the paint to modpodge then paint the wood and decoupage it as well? To be safe from water and what is the percentage of paint to modpodge as well? Thanks
Hi I love your videos I am wanting to try this where did you get your book of saying from for the mug I can't seem to find any please could you share the link or tell me what I need to search for I have put scrapbook paper in but nothing comes up like yours Many thanks Karen
it's dishwasher safe but not human safe. We're leaving space so the lips don't touch the mod podge even after its cured however, I'm worried about the toxins spreading around onto other dishes in the dishwasher or in dishwater.
I am wanting to seal alcohol ink on a bowl. If I clean the bowl with alcohol before putting on the mod podge it will take off the alcohol ink. Is it possible to just clean it with some mild detergent and water?
You can still use them. You would just have to wash them by hand. Sorry didn't realize your comment was from almost a year ago. Hopefully it worked out lol
Is it safe to use Mod Podge on the inside of the mug also? I have a mug that has some very fine cracks and leaks, so I wanted to try this as a sealant. Will it work?
Ingredients are considered non toxic but since its not an actual food item it can't be fda approved so that's why they say not to go to the top💕 I completely sealed cups and have used them like normal for 2yrs nothing noticeable health wise lol 🤷♀️
