I've done meal worms before, soldier flies are much less work and trouble. An ultimate composter and if you're coming up short on food for them throw in some wheat fermented for a couple days. Wheat bran also good to go. Both are about 15 bucks for a 50lb bag. That'll grow a ton of bugs the birds lose their minds for.
What type of mill would y'all recommend to produce your own feed? Would a regular old flour mill (the kind that screws on your kitchen counter) do the trick?
A had a bunch of whole mixed grains i gave to my mum to feed my chickens when i went on a trip. I came back and my mum told ne she cooked thr grains into porridge and ate it herself, said that the chickens can find their own food. The chickens laid less eggs than they used to for that time period. Smh.
Can Jersey Giants, Faverolles, Brahmas, Silkies, Cochin and New Hampshires eat this feed recipe you listed in this video? I am thinking of getting two of these breeds later on, so am just doing lots of research for now
