I understand that buying things from shows, games, anime ( I see Saitama back there ) makes you a “geek” but get this man an award for world’s coolest dad.
I *haaate* when toys feel all light and cheap and flimsy, honestly... When I was younger, I had a plastic BB toy pistol, and of course, being young I inevitably damaged it, so I went to open it up and try to fix it to make it work again. - And it worked, but what I appreciated was to see that the manufacturer had literally put pieces of wood inside the plastic gun in order to give it some actual *weight*.. It felt heavy, it felt sturdy, it felt PROPER. If I were to make one modification on your work here, I'd open the thing up again and just use a blade to score the inside of the plastic and line it up with just a thin layer of contact cement all around the insides where it wouldn't interfere with the electronics, just to bulk the thing up a bit. - Make it feel like it won't shatter into a million pieces if I sneezed on it.
@@YourGeekFix Just to clarify though, I do love the video and I also love the looks of the thing. - Paintjob is on point, drilling the hole in the front to give it some believability is also awesome. - And I love the decision to make it look more beaten-up and aged. The worn and weathered look is really so much more difficult to pull off right, because you need to go through the process of doing it good as you normally would, but then also try to imagine how it would wear off over time, and this was -awesome- from that regard. ♥
For cosplay couldn't you just put something like soda squirting out with a light(some kind of epoxy). Mind you I'm not a cosplayer, I'm a L.A.R.P.'er. Just throwing a idea out there. BTW love what you did with the Nuka Cola squirt gun.
RU-vid put your Pipboy 2000 build on my home page. I'm honestly shocked this isn't a million sub channel. Your videos are high quality and you have some interesting ideas!
Awesome technique! I love the idea of being 3 dimensional instead of tricking the eye from a distance. I can see where this would be something you could pick up, and feel as if you're handling a real antique item. You could add lead curtain weights, to give it that weighted feel.
@@YourGeekFix Look for lead torpedo fishing weights as Anthony from the Createscifi channel did for the props he uses in his short films. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dt1RWC3btrQ.html
You could seek advice from a potential RU-vid Comrade by contacting StyroPyro who specializes in some absolutely Amazing Lazer Technology. He could advise in the ways of completing the engineering on this Gun to make it Real! In a your Gonna need Lazer Goggles before you pull the trigger sort of Way! And that would make for some spectacular content
Good idea. I've been talking with Chris Bernardo of the wand company. He designed and made our pipboy 2000 and the flea. I Skyped with him yesterday for 3 hours and I plan to post that by monday. Again, if you are in the us, comment on loving being a geek on all the videos so you could win our contest. You have been watching and commenting a lot. You should be in the running.
I absolutely love that he seems like he had a few sips of Borbov's Best before shooting this episode, yet so freaking good at sharing his techniques. Makes it fun and feels like I'm building crap with buddies. Best new channel I've found in a while.
Didn't realize it only has 7k, tbh, this channel has more quality than bigger channels out there. Also I'm a fallout fanboy so you got me good. Edit: Also if you wanna make it heavy and maintain a even weight you could open it up and put DAS air dry clay on the walls.
I'm surprised you haven't converted this toy into a laser gun before you started painting. What happened? Did you lose interest? Will you make a flamethrower one day?
Actually, I would like to put a cyclo motor in it and turn it into a carnival style gun, like in Fallout. That way it could shoot cola. That could be a sticky situation though.
You’d probably have to load the dart down the barrel, like a musket or something. It could shoot out with a spring and compressed air Edit: I’m not a professional
Your Geek Fix maybe clean or fix like some old toy guns or clothes? Because I just cleaned up my toy gun to look like a 1873 rifle and I thought this would be fun for you to do!
That ray gun would be a great candidate for scanning and copying into a metal 3-D printer I was totally expecting you to clean your finger print goop off of there first!
