Dude, your honesty with your builds why I even watch your videos. I appreciate it. I think everybody here does some of us can build motors, but majority of us cannot fabricate or modify like you do And also you don’t have million dollar budgets and because of that I appreciate you more
Coming from an old man who’s all small block I got a 5.3 ls in my 1981 camaro I’m a huge fan of LS’ their simplistic and reliable make great power. I’m around 350 or so wheel hp in my cam only 99 5.3 with an 80e and a 9 inch. And not to mention I get 20 or so mpg driving 30 mins there and 30 mins back from the track and making 8 1/8 mile hits at the track. These LS’ are bad mamma jammas. To the point where dad is now putting one in his car and I’m about to turbo my camaro lol
Definitely glad I found this channel, someone with knowledge and enough balls to say what is not only in your stuff but give people a direction to look in when they just don’t know. Thank you and if ya ever need any transmission work hit me up
There’s going to be a lot of keyboard warriors that will still talk shit about never being in a 500whp car but if they ever stick to building they will understand. The honesty is one of my favorite parts of your videos man!
I make 543whp on nitrous carberated 5.3 cam and springs and longtubes and weight 2800 pounds a few decent suspension parts and can go faster than you think 99 percent of people don't understand how fast 600whp is
Been putting together the exact same 383 you described with a $300 FBM Gen II block with a local machinist that’s semiretired. Roller cam, some slightly massaged vortec heads we figure 450 for $3,600. Let’s have fun man!
Even today I think that like 350-450hp at the wheels in the right car is a lot of fun. The internet has kinda ruined peoples perceptions of horsepower lol
I personally made 640whp with a gen4 stock unopened 5.3 still dod cam and lifters, termixmax, sec1500, hellcat fp, aeromotive fpr, bw s475 with turbosmart hypergate 45mm welded to the t6 housing on stock flipped truck manifolds i welded vbands to and made my own crossover pipe. stock 4l60e and stock converter in my 94 obs blazer.. put the truck together for less than 5k at that point including buying the truck for 2500 as a roller with no drivetrain.. couldve pushed it more, but i knew the 4l60 and stock converter wouldnt last at that power level anyway.. now have version 2.0 with a built gen 4 aluminum 5.3, forged internals, sec pro series deca 2200cc injectors, radium fuel cell with triple hellcat pumps and a hellcat feed, 92mm bullseye turbo with built 4l80e and circle d triple disc billet converter..
That’s a sweet set up! I have an aluminum 5.3 with forged ICON pistons bored .040 over, btr stage 1 turbo cam, s475 BW running 10-11 lbs. Built 4L80e circle D 3000 converter. Problem is it just doesn’t perform like I hoped it would. I’m running one deatswercks fuel pump with no fuel pump regulator. I do have a gauge in the truck, under boost it never gets below 45 and 57-60 at idle. Wondering if I should look into a EFI management. It’s a stock computer 2006 Silverado. I might be making 500, or I’m just used to it.
Ls6 with a ecs supercharger kit 650whp, after 2 years piston 7 popped ring land bone stock. I'll probably get forged pistons and and rods, this time around 👍🏼
I’ve have the magnafuel 4303. 5.3l stroked fully forged VS racing 78/75 next gen at 23-24lbs of boost on pump e85 which was really e55 and had plenty of fuel pump!
To put in perspective what a 500 rwhp car can do (537 to be exact), my 67 camaro has a stroked ls2 402ci motor thru a th400. Runs 9.40s@141mph....all motor. ppl just dont know shit about shit
Brother, I am working on my first swap. Ls3/4L80 in a 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I found a Ls3 for $500. Otherwise it would have been a 6 OH. I don't want to boost it cause my wife will also be driving it. I don't want her to wrap it around a tree when it comes up on boost. I'm gonna leave her N/a. Just a Redhot cam. My car weighs 4200 pounds so that should be plenty to get that big ass moving. The car not my wife lol. I don't want her stabbing it at 60 to pass something and wrap it around a tree lol. Definitely putting wider tires on her. Once this one is finished I will build one with a 5.0 and then one with a Hemi. I want a set.
Well put. I'm currently going through this with my 69 Chevelle. I had a real deal SS 396 375 HP solid lifter car in HS. (Mid 90s) My current car, was a dream to build a COPO clone with a 427 big block. I gathered some parts - block, crank, rods. I'm into everything for $850-$900 so far... no heads, cam, pistons, machine work, etc. I'm not willing to run a flat tappet cam and peanut ports on it. So that's getting scrapped, I'm basically trying to sell that stuff off for what I have in it. Enter the LS... I have a good 6L block and crank - Gen 3. A good set of Gen 4 LS2 rods and flat tops, a really clean set of legit LS3 heads. See where I'm going? I have about the same money in those parts as the big block stuff. I can literally dingle hone the 6L, new rings and bearings, summit pro LS cam $300, I have a set of new BTR duals someone gave me. I have extra engine covers laying around, $200 knock off Holley swap pan. I guarantee it will make 550+ flywheel. The crazy thing is, I have people pissed off at me saying I'm ruining the car. lol I just want to drive my damn car and have a potent engine without getting a 2nd mortgage.
700 sounds like a ton to me. I'm trying to make 700 with an lt4 for cheap. My injectors and hpfp cost about what you're whole build cost so trust me I'm super impressed. My car is a c7z road course time attack car. Temps have to stay low and 10k in suspension and 5k in wheels is more important than a new blower. That Magnuson 2650r is a beautiful thing though
I’m getting ready to put a 6.0 in a e36 and I’m starting to think my goal of 800 is to much should maybe shoot for 550 600 after seeing 700+ shake that truck all around
I mean, this truck is a rusty $600 beater lol E's are usually a lot more solid. If it's something you're gonna daily, 5-600hp is a LOT for a daily. That would still be like a high 10 to mid 11 second car. That's cruisin. It really depends on your end goal and what you're using the car for.
For sure cannot beat a 4.8 or 5.3 straight out of the junk yard for cost/HP. Gen 1 SBC has to have a set of heads unless it has Vortec or Camel Humps and Camel Humps are hard to find these days, or unless it is a Gen 2 LT1, those heads flow well though not as good as LS heads. And imo 700 RWHP is not crazy HP but it is a lot, my 700 RWHP scares the crap out of me on the street even with 275/60 15 Radial Pros on it.
Not sure what my monte carlo ss is making 6.0 gen 4 cam lifters springs injecters terminator x love my sbc but power in the ls cheap power. Only my opinion with josh and hope to meet up sometime
What are your thoughts on the 4.8LS I can pick one up running fairly low miles for $600 buck or should I look for a 5.3 or 6.0? Engine will be going in an 88 Trans/Am with a cooked 305.
The 4.8 is a great engine. My buddy John has a 4.8 with a cast 7875 in a cutlass that he drives the fuck out of and it just melts the tires at will lol I love that car
I love superchargers, the upfront cost is just so high that its tough to get into. Like even the cheap used ones are still like $2,000+ for just the blower
@@SniderTron3000 I started following you when you had the rcsb supercharged Silverado, and I haven't really seen one since. I'm not far from boosting my build but I'm torn on which route to go (because a big Whipple is sexy).. loving the videos though!
how reliable do you think 700 hp in a mostly stock ls like what you described would be? i have a dream truck in mind that i would like to build when i get my own place and i would want around 750hp but also be really reliable so i can thrash on it without worry
On one hand, this truck has seen 302+ degree IAT's with ungapped rings and 7500rpm, 23psi boost a LOT and still purrs like a kitten. On the other hand, anything can break so its hard to say
@@SniderTron3000 yeah I'd like to build it without spending a lot but if i have to I'll rebuild it, im kind of thinking to build everything for 1000hp but only making 750 or so just for longevity
SniderTron3000 I have a l33 that has a single 76mm rings gapped with tsp turbo cam single walbro 450 deka 88lb injectors, I’m pulling turbo off and putting back to n/a can I leave all the fueling and just readjust the tune and airflow. I have hp tuners but finding someone that will help me around here is pretty hard.
@SniderTron3000 very nice! I'm 95% done with a cammed 5.3 turbo chevy luv drag truck. Almost ready to hit the track on 7psi gate. Hoping it makes about 500-550 on gate. 20+ would be a monster! Especially at 2400lb weight.
Gems 💡6-700 not alot..says all morons all day.. Most likely have 350-400hp never been in turbo either true 😂 Love it. Have GN 600+w... Absolutely insane. Turbos another animal.💨🏁🏁🏁
ALL LS MOTORS BLOW UP !!! Every crap, talking Chevy guy in the country has 3 Blown up junk LS motors lying in the Dirt on the side of the Garage,,Facts,,,
