#1 lobster **accent And no it’s not fake per say, it’s more so that she is trying to put on an RP (received pronunciation) accent , which is a nasally accent spoken by the upper class English at the turn of the 20th century to distinguish themselves from the lower classes. It’s still used today (albeit less common) in older people with more traditional upbringings. Her real accent seems to be West Country/Bristolian , and she has several twangs when pronouncing certain words. These are little intricacies they unless you’re English you wont necessarily hear :)

God's child they're very easy to make, we had one at my great aunt's house growing up. we made it using a plan for a small spice rack and drilling large holes in the shelves. I'd recommend making a small insert with thin wood with smaller holes if you're planning on using it to hold home raised eggs since they're not standard in size.

They showed a documentary about the different clothing styles of England since the 16th century to the present on TV and from there I started watching different videos about the Victorian era, including this one. It's been two weeks. Send help, I can't stop. Joking aside, this recipe seems even easier than the instant pancake mixes they sell these days. Just eggs, milk and flour and they're ready to go. I've always wanted copper kitchenware, but it's a bit expensive in the stores where I've seen the sets.

Anyone else notice the gaping hole in her pancake at 2:27 that doesn't fill in? Also, I literally laughed out loud when she flipped the pancake and it horrendously landed on the pan, 2:40 ! wow! Sorry to be a buzz kill but it's hilarious!

Actually, they look like traditional Russian pancakes/crepes. In Russia they are always as thin as in the video. You can cut them on four parts, then roll and tip into any jam, honey, coldensed milk. Or you can just sauce them. Besides you can fold each pancake up and fill with some filling: for example with minced meat, chopped cabbage with boiled eggs, rice etc. In this way they can be served as a main course.

Наталья Авдеева I think this is how most people make them in Europe, as it is common to add baking powder in the US. As a Norwegian I can say that these more or less look like the pancakes we make at home, where we add either sugar and butter, jam, bacon, or bacon & sugar before rolling it and eating it. So guess it is a European and Russian thing. (I'm confused as wether or not I should refer to Russia as European, Asian or both, heh...)

I say! Downton Abbey is a fabulous series! You must watch it with tea and scones; the beverage served in fine bone English china! On the other side, is a a series called 24 Hours in the Past. A group of people visit Victorian England and its quite a challenge. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZUdOXhYwrgU.html xo

I made these this morning, but added a little sugar and a splash of Grand Marnier to the batter. I served them rolled up with a little whipped cream. I will definitely be putting this in regular rotation --they were splendid. I liked that there were only a few tablespoons of flour in them.

I’ve made this recipe several times and until tonight I never had any jelly, jam, or preserves to use so I substituted it for peanut butter. It was alright but tonight I used apricot preserves and added a tiny bit of vanilla into the pancake batter and it was so much better than using peanut butter
@OofusTwillip
@OofusTwillip Год назад
Try pancakes with melted butter and golden syrup or maple syrup. That's how North Americans enjoy them. Please pardon me, but I'm afraid Mrs. Crocombe would throw shade on your wording. You mean, you substituted peanut butter *for* preserves. Or, you substituted *with* peanut butter. It's strange how many people nowadays are confused about the wording around "substitute". I blame social media, which repeats and spreads errors, as people assume those errors are correct.
