I know this vid is a couple of years old but just for anyone else reading the comments, you don't need a full size food processor. If you don't have a food processor or blender, you can get a mini chopper for around $10 (like the ones one uses to make salsa). There are even small manual choppers that make it quicker by pressing down on the top as it spins and chops for under $10. Great way to speed up the process without spending a lot or taking up too much counter/cabinet space.

Hello :) i have a few questions First of all do you leave your birds food in the cage all day long or do you have a feeding schedule? Second what pellets do you use? On the topic of pellets a lot of people have been saying that Harrison’s pellets are actually really unhealthy for your bird. I have been feeding my cockatiel Uki Harrison’s pellets for a while because I thought it was healthy. Do you use Harrison’s?? I’m just curious because I want my birds to have proper nutrition. Have a blessed day ❤️❤️✨
@BirdNerdSophie

Hey! We feed the fresh food at 9am, and replace with a dry mix at dinner (3pm). We don't use pellets as a big portion of the diet, just for a bit of fun and foraging! We use Harrison's and TOP's but they don't get them everyday!

Both my birds hate fruit for some reason, I tried giving Fluffy banana and strawberry which he didn't eat at all, and I gave Maya a chunk of apple, and she didn't nibble at it, she kinda walked away from it. 5:27 what?! How did u get peas that big? We only have snap peas in our area and when you open the pods the peas are tiny! That's why I don't really include peas in chop :( 5:59 for some reason Fluffy and Maya aren't a fan a carrot, no matter how fine I chop it... I add in dried chili to my chop, and dried herbs in because I don't have fresh herbs. I add fresh coriander because it's the only fresh herb I have, I put in dried thyme, dried rosemary, dried dill, and powdered oregano which I made sure that there is no other ingredients I also add some chia seeds in it too

Thanks for this video! When I had my parrots in my childhood and teenage yearsbefore they passed the thing here for all animals where dry complete food pellets and seedmixes for birds and and even rabbits!! (Never should you feed seeds to rabbits btw) Horrible when you really think about it. In my adulthood I have owned dogs, cat and multiple exotic animals mostly reptiles but just now I'm getting back to birds again, I'm getting and indian ringneck parrot 🥰 For me ever since I was an adult there is no such thing as "ready meals". I don't eat dry ready meals every day so why would my animals eat it?? None of my dogs never ate anything ready but fresh raw meat and organ meat, I feed my lizards only fresh vegetable chop and live insects. Now I want to do right for my new parrot and I'm studying the sh*t out of feeding parrots NATURALLY 😆🦜 no pellets or artificial vitamins for my new little dude 🥦🥬🥕🥒

Could u post more chop-sparation in the community post? I'm running out of ideas because I think I'm giving them the same vegetables all the time 😔

I will do! I'm going to make fresh chop tomorrow so I'll either put it in my community post or as part of the vlog I'm filming!

Hi, thank you so much for all your help. Do you ever freeze your chop.

You're welcome! I'll freeze any that doesn't fit in the box that hold's a week's worth but it goes so wet when I defrost it so I have to squeeze the water out!

Hey Sophie. Another great video. I wanted to ask how do measure the quantity of each ingrediant? For example if I made this for one bird for a week? Or is it just random handfuls? In terms of when u feed each morning is 2 tablespoons per serving bowl ok?

Hi Raj, per bird I'd feed a heaped teaspoon of the chop and sprouts in the morning, and a heaped teaspoon of the dry in the evening. I don't measure out each ingredient, I just do it by eye to make sure there isn't one that looks more abundant than the other!
