How To Make Passive Income as an Architect with Eric Reinholdt 

Enoch, I forgot you interviewed Eric. Eric has had a massive influence on me, my approach to clients, my plan for AAL and how I want the practice to run. Eric books where one of the reasons I joined your program which is starting you work amazingly well. Thanks to both of you guys for everything you do and makes my goals more achievable.

Here's an amazing idea I am going to tell you all and it's gonna blow all your minds. Start a prefabrication company. My first job was at a place where they built and transported prefabricated modular cottages. They had a proper factory and were selling those cottages for twice, thrice the manufacturing+labour cost. Don't worry about the initial investment. All of the investment can be done using the client's money. You can even rent a factory/warehouse using the client's money. Build a minimum viable product first. Then keep improving as soon as possible. That way you won't just sell services but products as well (in form of Cottages). In short, start a construction company that provides Architecture services. You need to figure out a way to merge products+services.. That's the business model of some of the world's largest companies. Prefabrication is the future. It will convert your services into products. Starting my own prefabrication company in a few months

I love hearing of other architects who not only view their services as products (active or passive) but also see the value that can be added outside the direct scope of our services as architects. I’m a chartered architect from the UK and recently started my own practice, I could not agree more with Eric’s methodology, mindset and system creation. Traditional architectural practice still has a long way to go in adopting these methods. Ultimately, with this approach we can continue and even advance in the level of value we can provide all whilst we delight our clients (customers).

Enoch, I'm glad you asked Eric about the realistic side of these passive incomes for a typical architect, but I feel that the question left out one key point, is it realistic for this to become a profitable part of the industry without becoming saturated almost instantly. I know that Eric admitted 'not everyone would adopt all of these', but I would imagine very few people would adopt any of them, because the market just isn't there. While agree there should always be a strong culture of other media like monographs and videos and so on, but that does not mean it is an option for income from the general body of architects. When it comes to online media, the videos, podcasts, etc, yes there should be a much bigger culture of this among architects but again, that does not mean we could all potentially do it successfully. I'm not putting it down of course, as i said it is necessary and should be expanded throughout the industry, but that does not mean it is an option for anyone, even if as you both said the easy to use technology is there. As for the books, the idea that anyone could just make a monograph, or any book is beyond unrealistic. Monographs are slow, expensive, and require a big public fan base for there to be any potential market, something only a handful of architects have. If we're talking about any other type of book, something more technical, that is a massive undertaking, and there is a lot of competition out there, books written over the last few decades that are still being printed and bought today. Basically, this isn't only 'not for everyone', it's for an extremely niche group, I think. I'm surprised that you didn't go into any more specific methods of passive incomes and how to go about setting them up and maintaining them such as the energy audits and things. Great discussion though only wish it could have gone on longer to get into it all more. Alternative incomes need to be a bigger topic among architects today.

I love this video. I've been finding my own way down a very similar path for years now and am glad to see it is viable and can work. I definitely have some of the same goals for creating the products he discussed. Thanks for sharing! Your channel is great.
