Cheap wrapping paper works well for making patterns because of how long it is. A lot of them even have a grid on the un-printed side

Im very beginner to sewing so not sure how to word this, but is there any way to make a pattern(clone) a dress that had multiple seams without taking it apart? Like the bust is a separate part, the shoulders are as well.. all sewn together or does this really only work for the simpler garments? I would like to clone a dress without taking it apart but not sure how

I have the same sewing machine, question, do u ever have to change the throat plate, to use the diffrent stiches on that particular machine hon?

Wouldn’t it be easier to trace directly on the fabric and outline with chalk? Newbie here. What is the benefit to tracing it out on paper first?
