I will die on the hill that "no human npc at launch" was not what made Fallout 76 bad, in fact human npc was just a bandaid on the janky mess, it was a doomed game from lack of visions poor gameplay loop and lack of proper roleplay elements and a limited build system compared to 4 you can make a post apocalypse sandbox game where the players are the only "humans" and it can work. The "Fallout 76 is worse then you know series of videos explains what the hell is wrong with this game, even now, and why it's such a punching bag.
It definitely isn't the only reason no. But it was definitely a reason why I never had interest in the game to begin with. Besides, the same can be said about Fallout 4. It may have something akin to "characters" but it's a distorted abomination of the true meaning of the word.
Ah, man, I thought that maybe this video was going to be like that dude who evaluates animals as if they were an MMO or rpg class build being played by individual gamers, but, on the level of historical civilizations and featuring their most interesting characters who left an impact on the history of that culture. Of course, the fact that it isn't about that is not at all your fault, so I won't be doing any irrationally stupid things like throwing a dislike or anything. I, unfortunately, don't actually have the time to get into the type of game that your advice is geared towards, and in fact I don't even think I know anyone who does play them...but I saw your view count and comment count is still pretty low here, so, I'm just going with it and I'm gonna play this through in it's entirety and leave this confusing and Ultima... ultimately irrelevant comment, and I'll even throw the like your way, just bc I respect your effort, and this isn't even a boring video despite my total lack of knowledge on the whole tabletop gaming shebang. Oh! I do know a guy who plays...or maybe now, 15 years later, used to play, Warhammer 40k. And I had another friend who played...the other one -the space faring one instead of the fantasy one (assuming I'm remembering correctly that Warhammer is the fantasy one) bc I remember some sort of connection between them existed. Can't give too many details here, in case my players run across this, but: One of the oldest Dao Archons of the City of Gates, Qar ibn Pasebakhaenniut is in charge of justice in the city. He takes it seriously, but sees it largely as a philosophical exercise. He does not dispense justice himself. The Hobgoblin city guard answer to him, as do the roaming Observer judges, and all of them are directed on a daily basis by an Androsphynx who is the highest judge in the city (though any Archon can, of course, overrule his decisions). Desire: to infuse his city with a more perfect justice. Means: mostly through arguing philosophy and sending orders down the chain of command, most of which are largely ignored by the Hobgoblin mamluks enforcing the peace.
