Have you tried the chocolate frosting and then just a few drops of black food coloring and then melting??? I tried this method today and WOW! What a game changer, way less food coloring used this way. I only had to microwave a bit and then add to the rest of the frosting, mix, mix, mix and place in fridge for a bit and take it out then mix again and it took care of the grainy part some say happens when u do this method. Anyways, yours is a great tip as well 😊

Yes! I'll often use cocoa powder when I am making black buttercream or icing but it really depends whether the chocolate flavour goes well with whatever it's being used on.

Genius! So resting it also deepens the color I take it?

Yes if you leave colours to develop for even longer, they will deepen. This method is quicker, and ideal for those times when you don't want to wait a long time for the colour to develop.

Does this help not stain your mouth ?

I find that small amounts of icing doesn't stain your mouth. As with any deep colours, there's always a chance it can happen if you eat a lot of it but it shouldn't stain for long.
