i bought your premium font, i did it for two main reason: first, you are really an ispiration for me, in both pixelarts and yt, i'm going to open my channel and my goal it's to reach your quality on it, you are really good, second i really love those fonts, keep going!
im actually spreed running all your videos. And oh my god they are visual masterpieces 😭 i cant imagine the blood, sweat and tears put into each video. I had a little pixel game idea from newjeans' x powerpuff girls collab and i just wanted smth simple but im literally considering trying this type of stuff out. Problem is, i cant draw so
$1 Font pack is a steal. If I ever decide to come back to my YT Unity stuff (My last video was around a year ago lol), I would love to use your fonts sometimes . Thanks for great videos!
The font pack was an instant buy! Firstly I get to support a creator I love, secondly I don't have to go through the process of making fonts and 3rdly I get a bunch of cool fonts I couldnt make myself for my game!
Hey Pixel, I just found your channel and I'm so glad I did! I was wondering what program you're using to make your art, I want to get into it too, it looks brilliant!
I am interested in these things, I will buy fonts when I need them, used in every part of quality designed games, also there are lots of quality pixel art fonts for a cheap price, also thank you for making video of how to make your own fonts! great work keep it up!
Enjoy the cup of coffee that you're now able to buy! I will try to remember to let you know once I finish my current game projects, in a few dozen years
im unsure how u get the capital and lowercase letters to scale properly in fontforge. when i import they all just scale to fit the size or are wayyyy to small if i uncheck that box ur video makes it seem like it just works ive done everything step for step
hmm. Try exporting the glyphs with extra spacing/padding around them? To do this you can just have an invisible square behind every letter in illustrator. But this process can be a bit painful, so check out some online programs www.pentacom.jp/pentacom/bitfontmaker2/ to see if you like them better.
Very helpful and interesting vid mate! Long time watcher of ya vids, first time commenter. Your channel has been very very helpful in my pixel art journey. Keep up the great work!
Hey man, congratulations for your fonts! They are beautiful. I'm making my first game, is there any problem if use one of yout fonts in it and comercialize the game?
Been messing around with Fontself for a while, and wanted to get into pixel art for a few projects I am working on (ttcw-rpg on itch, if you play any TTRPGs.) Your channel has been a revelation, super helpful with the tutorials you have, and your assets are fantastic. Just bought the premium font pack a few minutes ago and will definitely tag you in any pixel stuff I end up making. Truly phenomenal channel. I wish I could subscribe twice.
I need your help! Okay so I created my own pixel font and input this one into illustrator and made the object mosaic like you said. This is where I get lost. How do you merge all individual fonts? I saw you quickly go to select>same>full colour that did nothing. What am I missing here? Shift + 4 you mentioned quickly but that didn’t seem to work either. I feel silly over this blunder and so close to having a font here! I tried to use the shape builder tool but it misses details within the font I don’t want missing. Thank you in advance!
Hey! So there's a window in illustrator called 'pathfinder', you can find it in the properties tab. If you've lost it, just go 'Window > Pathfinder'. There will be four main icons, the first is *Unite*, and it joins multiple shapes into one. It's the one you want to use. Select all the black squares for one letter, and unite them into a single shape by clicking that button. Helpful video by someone else: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fdD3FOXf6ac.html I went to Select>Same>Full Colour because I wanted to get rid of all the white surrounding shapes as I didn't need them. Ctrl+4 can be used as a *Unite* hotkey because it repeats the last pathfinder command.
Hi there, hope you're still around checking comments haha. I was really curious about your process for fonts which included multiple colors. Your bones, metallic, mecha, and steampunk font all seem currently impossible for me to do unless I set my font up as an emoji spritesheet in unity. Is there a specific process that differs in getting color fonts to work?
Hey! Yeah, unfortunately coloured fonts are only supported by Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Setting up the letters as a spritesheet is sort of the only current way to do it in unity unfortunately. Hope that helps!
one thing to know about making fonts is that you have to have a limited amount of shapes, out of which you'll build everything. Letters need to 'rhyme' visually. Look at wvy or qpdb or rn m or lit ofc you can have ome exceptions
Nice video, but I'd recommend to not hide the tools you use behind your "editor" overlay. People watching your videos are probably interested in the tools you use :)
Thank you soo much for ur wonderful tutorial, I am really bad in making fonts in pixels, I also just wanted to ask what apps do you use in making your fonts?
