There are loads of free printables available on the internet, here's where I found the ones I used -

This one also has a tutorial -
anisamlondon.wordpress.com/20...
And here's a link to the lovely Hey Seaville who requested this tutorial and has loads of inspiring projects on her channel -

Setting your button into a piece of clay, it will save your hand quite a lot of work. Also I find giving the paper just the finest mist of water helps to keep the paper from pleating. You do really lovey work.

Hi Annie, do you finish the backs of them at all? just curious?
@artyfartyannie
@artyfartyannie 3 месяца назад
Good question Dana - I did put a coat of modpodge on to protect them, because I was worried that otherwise they might be susceptible to damp over time. You won't see the backs the way I intend to use them, so it doesn't matter for the look, but I think it's worth a quick protective coat, especially as it only takes a second to do :)

Dear Annie, I love these miniature plates, and I've just printed off the larger ones on matte cardstock. How many layers of hair spray do I need to spray over the ink jet prints to seal them? Also sweetie, can I use something like Judikins Diamond Glaze instead of spray on acrylic varnish to coat the little plates?
@artyfartyannie
@artyfartyannie 5 месяцев назад
Hi Amanda, thank you, I'm glad you like them and I hope you'll have lots of fun making them, I found it soooo satisfying! This was a while back, but I think I just did a couple quick sprays of hairspray to fix the inkjet ink - you might want to experiment on a couple as it will vary with type of paper or card, which hairspray and so on. I've never used a spray varnish, but I've had good results on these with gloss medium such as mod podge, brush on varnish, glossy accents and even clear nail polish. Hope that helps :)

@@artyfartyannie Thanks Annie, I did get a can of hairspray and you're right, it works so well as a sealer over ink jet prints, and it's much cheaper than "real" sealants from craft shops. It's funny how so many things become a lot more expensive when they're sold as craft products!! Speaking of which, I bought the Ranger Crackle Accents and it's great on miniature artworks as well as plates. I bought a set of miniature paintings from Temu for about $3.00 and they looked awful when I first got them. The paintings were really fake looking and the plastic frames were even worse. So I pulled off the paper images (actually they almost fell off) and substituted some prints of lovely Victorian style miniature paintings, that I cut out and glued onto the back of the frames, which I aged with vintage gold Rub'n'Buff, and some brown antiquing glaze by Fusion Mineral Paints. The final touch was applying a layer of the Crackle Accents to the paintings and I finally had some decent paintings to hang on the wall of my Book Nook. Thanks again for all your great advice and help. Love from Amanda in Melbourne, Australia

@@junewoods1815Hi, you just need an ink jet printer to print off the images of the plates. And after you print them off, you can use hairspray to seal the ink. I don't know where you live, but I bought my first ink jet printer for only about $25.00 (that's Australian dollars) so they're not expensive. It's definitely worth getting a printer because there are so many free templates you can find on the internet, and they're not expensive to buy either. I hope this helps. From Amanda

@@amandajones6481 Wonderful, never thought of using the crackle accents on paintings, thanks for the tip. I'm so happy you enjoyed the video and found it useful, I will be getting around to making some more miniature makes on here very soon, as I've worked out a slightly better way of filming them and I have lots of ideas - I have a Moroccan bazaar book nook to fill! :)

Bonjour Anne! I mentioned in the video that I used card to print on, this was a long time ago so I can't remember exactly, but it was probably about 160gsm at most, as my printer won't take heavier card. it needs to be sturdy enough to hold its shape, but not too heavy or it won't shape nicely. I remember I also tried it on photo paper, but that didn't work at all. Hope that helps :)

Hi Bonnie, sorry I feel like it would be a bit cheeky for me to share their file, but if you do a google search for "free printable miniature plates", quite a lot of options come up which would be just as nice. Here's a blog post with a free tutorial and free printable to go with it, they look really pretty, I think I'll do them myself! :) anisamlondon.wordpress.com/2016/03/05/printable-china-plates/ Hope that helps.

Ah that's a shame, they seem to have gone out of business don't they? I looked them up on Instagram where they have a profile and Facebook where they have a page, but both seem to be inactive and although they show the plate-making jig, there's no active website where you can buy it and nowhere to download the printables any more. Such a shame.Hopefully you'll find other downloadable printable plates like this, there were loads about when I was doing this project :)
