This sweet and tangy curry is perfect for summer and pairs wonderfully with rice and pappadams. Follow along with our step-by-step guide to create this flavorful dish right in your own kitchen.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups chopped ripe mango
- 2 cups grated coconut
- 4 green chillies
- 1 tablespoon chana dal
- ½ teaspoon methi seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 1 cup curd
- Salt to taste
- A few curry leaves
- 2 cups water
Method:
1. In a vessel, take 2 cups of sliced ripe mango. Add ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, salt to taste, a few curry leaves, and 2 cups of water. Boil for 10 minutes.
2. Prepare the coconut paste by blending 1 cup grated coconut, 4 green chillies, and 1 tablespoon chana dal soaked for 10 minutes into a smooth paste.
3. Add the coconut paste to the boiled mango mixture and cook for another 5 minutes.
4. Add 1 cup of curd to the mixture and simmer for 2 more minutes. Adjust salt and add a pinch of turmeric.
5. For the tadka, heat 1 tablespoon cooking oil in a kadai, add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds, 4 dried red chillies, and a pinch of asafoetida. Pour this tadka into the mango kootan mixture.
Serve with rice and pappadams and enjoy!
