Didn’t know you could make your own shimmer mist! Thanks for the tip. Had just seen another gal maker her own shimmer mist, but she used one of those travel type spray bottles and she used shimmer eye shadow powder! Think we al have a jar of that stuff around. She filled the spray bottle about 1/2 way with rubbing alcohol, then added about 1/8 tsp of shimmery powder eye shadow, mixed it with a stick, then added a drop or two of hairspray (the kind you can take the nozzle out of) and she theN had a larger bottle of shimmer mist and she said she had been using hers for years. She had a white, kinda like the white one you had, but used shimmer white eye shadow. You can make any color of shimmer mist that you have the colors of eye shadows!! This is just another tip for you, as I’m sure you go through tons of supplies. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Alright now...yet ANOTHER fun thing to try!! I'm a gal who LOVES some sparkle/bling but sometimes it can be to much if I use a pre-glittered item. This is subtle enough that it brings interest (and joy) to a project without being overboard for some. (However, is there ever such a thing as "overboard" when it comes to sparkle???!!!) Also it allows us to match up the same color papers/inks on our projects! Thanks, Connie!!!
I have the shimmer paints, but haven't used them in like forever. You have inspired me to dig them out and use them for my Christmas cards. Well done again, Connie.
I really like this tip, I have spray cans glimmer stuff but they have a tendency to spray spots, I prefer this fine misty spray, thank you I always learn something from your videos.
I love doing this. I also use brush pens to make my own wink of stella. I use stainless steel ball bearings inside each pen to help agitate when I shake to mix. They don't rust, however, do not use BBs, those will rust and cause discoloration of your mixture.
Great way to get custom colors. I have a stash of Tattered Angels sprays that I mostly picked up from Tuesday Morning so I probably won't make my own, but still nice to know if I ever decide to. Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Crafting!
Thank you for posting this!! I think you posted one earlier this year, because I bought 4 spritzers (one for each of my paint colors) and was going to use them for my Christmas cards. But I didn't write down "the recipe" so I hadn't done it yet!! So excited to try them out on my November Paper Pumpkin Kit!!! Thank you Connie! Happy thanksgiving 🦃
Connie Stewart so, I spritzed card base and it got crazy curly ... I let it dry and now it's sitting under a small box. Any ideas? Wondering if I should have spritzed a layer piece instead of base card stock? Also curious if it makes card stock curl what would dsp end up like?? :( Colors look very pretty though :)
Connie Stewart lol! I definitely was too close on the first one!! They came out as blobs!! I was probably heavy handed as well. I was trying to get coverage on the whole background. Maybe a sponge sweeping method would work better for that!! Thank you for the quick response too!!
Such a pitty that Stamping Up products aren't available in Belgium. It is sometimes difficult to find comparable products here. Love your idea's en the way you bring them on You Tube. Thank you so much.
Hello Connie. Is there a certain type of paint to make with the alcohol shimmer spritz just wondering I have some craft acrylic paint in the gold and silver was just wondering if that would work. Thank you keep up the great work
Your alcohol says 70% on the bottle so that works! I’m in Canada and ours is 71% so as long as I don’t use 91% again, I’m good! Thanks Connie, I love to use my shimmer paint like like, it’s so beautiful!
I use alcohol and mica powders, but I add some liquid hairspray to help keep the 'rub off' to a minimum. I also toss in 1-3 (depending on the size of the sprayer) stainless steel mixer balls so it blends well when shaken.
I like the idea, but someone told me that, you’re not supposed to use rubbing alcohol in misters or spray bottle, because it’s not healthy to breathe in, especially people who have breathing problems. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer! 🤪😝
Yes. True enough! I just thought I’d put it out there in case you didn’t know & might’ve wanted that information! I really like the idea & I’ve been apprehensive because of it, but I might just try it anyway! 🙂 Thanks for expressing that! 😀😁
