Really good Hudson!! Get rid of the rubber pad, and use an old beach towel or a blanket!! Presto! No more bounce backs!!

Nice Natural. Yeah I've found that just hanging a large blanket behind the targets and letting it hang loosely from something (not dragging on the ground or being held down) will stop the Ammo without it bouncing off everywhere. I've also ended up putting another big blanket underneath the targets and the hanging blanket so that I can see my Ammo easier than having to search through the grass for them all the time. 👍

Nice slingshot and nice shots. Don't forget to wear protective glasses when testing them. And set up a collector like Zacary Flow's. Segurança em primeiro lugar.

If there is every a season for hunting spoons you are going to bag your limit 😮 or if you are attacked by silverware, you will smoke them.

Where that rubber mat is hanging some old t-shirts up instead as backing or an old bed sheet as that’s how I do it and it works really really well as it absorbs the impact of the steel’s and just drops to the floor so you could also put like some box underneath the t-shirts then the ammo hits the t-shirt then it will fall and collect into the box or container. Great shooting, wish I was that good lol.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but whats the purpose of the linseed oil onto the frame? Is it just to make it look glowy?
@hudsonhertz
@hudsonhertz Год назад
Never a dumb question, I’m pretty sure it’s just to seal the wood a little and protect it. It also helps with giving it some color and making the gain of the wood stand out.

Hello My friend, It's really nice to see a young person interested in woodwork and using handtools. Just think, if you're interested enough, you can make anything you want to. Just think, when people want cupboards, chairs, etc, they go to their local store. You could make your own, and they'll be unique to you. No one else's chairs, cupboards will be like yours. You could use whatever design or joints you choose. I'm not particularly academic, though I love woodwork and making things too. I fly fish and tie all my own flies. I needed a cupboard/stack unit for my belongings. So, I designed and made my own. With that, I chose my own materials and design, and it's totally unique to me. I shoot, too, and have made my own gunstocks. Many gunstocks are now made by lazer guided machinery, in ultra quick time. Mine are both hand-made in my kitchen of my small house. They are laminated, each laminate taking two hours to hand saw. One stock has five laminates, the other has seven. The shooters and people I've shown them to said I should be proud of myself. I'm not very academic, though I love woodwork and making things. The only problem is that I make things for myself and my family, as people won't pay for my time in that capacity when they can buy something similar, made in China for peanuts. I hope I've inspired you, my friend, going forward in your young life. Time goes very quickly. Best wishes, Ian, England.

Wow man thanks for the comment, that’s very inspiring, I’ve never thought of it that way. My grandpa makes chairs and I might have to take a few lessons from him and make my own, thanks!

@hudsonhertz Hello My friend, You're very welcome. I didn't have that opportunity. My father, although a keen shooter, wouldn't let me own my own air rifle or allow me my own hand tools. I know you're not a child, but children then were seen and not heard. I was twenty-three when I bought my house, and within twelve months, I'd made my own bedroom floor to ceiling wardrobes at one side of the chimney alcove. My life could have been very different if my early years were different and encouraged me to do what I loved. My father thought I would cut my hands on saws, chisels, etc. Sometimes, someone only needs a little push, and their outlook alters, and they see things they hadn't before. The best of luck, my friend, and I'm thrilled with your comment. Ps. Always try and keep your tools sharp, and they'll always look after you! In terms of health and safety, always keep your hand, fingers, and arms behind your cutting edge. Learning how to sharpen your tools is a skill in itself but often overlooked. Sometimes, you'll think you haven't time to sharpen your chisel, though it'll take much longer to cut a joint out with not being sharp. Sharp tools are fantastic. Lastly, measure twice, cut once! Best wishes, my friend, and good luck!

Hello again, my friend, When I messaged you yesterday, I had only watched half of your video. With reference to catching your ammo, you could do with making a wooden frame, to hang a heavy old curtain, to kill the energy in your ammo and stop the richocets. When your ammo richocets, you are in the lap of the gods as to where it lands and what you hit and potentially damage. If that was me, I definitely wouldn't be popular with the neighbours. I would be very careful with that and try to hang a heavy curtain as soon as possible. You will also catch your ammo, so you won't have to buy more! Best wishes, my friend.
@hudsonhertz

Thanks for the idea, I’ve upgraded it since that video with a few pieces of rubber and a carpet, no ricochets and it catches my ammo, thanks for the comment!

@Boya418y

Use dirt bullets Or make a bigger net to catch. Like those used to stop arrows like a courtain
@disband_thebbc5933
@disband_thebbc5933 Год назад
You either want to construct a large cube with a 45° angled back and an open front with lip at the bottom basically a giant airgun pellet trap idea being that the shot hits the 45° slant and is angled down in to the bottom of the box. Or you want two poles a distance apart with a line between on two eye bolts with a heavy duty outdoor fabric curtain double over the line to absorb the shots energy,.you can also have an open top enclosure at the bottom to catch the ammo.

I made one welding steel bars together to form a "slingshot body" and attached a rubber exercise band (30 kg band) I also made a forearm rest because at full drag it would just bend back. The shit hit my lower thumb knuckle and crushed it shooting steel ball bearing balls.
