You're probably watching this video because, like us, you're having a hard time cold starting your ski doo. This video explains how we installed a primer plunger on our snowmobile. The primer is helpful because it forces gasoline into the carbs and therefore fosters quicker and easier start ups with less pulls. We hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks, that will save me removing the spark plugs and putting mixed fuel in for every cold start.

Cool vid. I just picked up a 98 380 and this will be the first mod. I'm too old to pull the damn rope 12 times in the morning.

Are you running premix? If gas is pulled from the tank and not premixed, won't this less to a seized engine? Thanks for an explanation.

With a primer I no longer need a choke? My choke plunger I siezed in place and I am looking for alternatives.

great video. I may do this if I have the fitting existing on my carbs. Have you ever replaced the fuel pump. Im looking for an easy way to do this

Did the sled have a choke previously? My 800 is a bitch to start when cold and have been thinking about swaping the choke for a primer.

One note on premium fuel; unless your sled CALLS for or REQUIRES it because of mods, don't run it. It's MUCH harder to start in winter. Stabilized fuel is just fine for storage; just dump a few gallons of fresh 87 before your first romp the following season.

Just one problem with that recommendation, 87 fuel contains ethanol. In my area premium fuel contains no ethanol. I'd never use ethanol fuel in a sled or any small engine.

@@wiscofun3028 76 gas stations sell 87 non-ethanol fuel. There are others as well.

Does it matter where we tap into the fuel line? I've wondered if tapping in to the line before the fuel pump would cause the fuel pump to suck from the primer line. Or does the primer somehow seal and prevent back flow?

larpin1 hey great question, it won’t have any effect on your fuel pump.

The primer it's self is a so to speak sealed unit between the main fuel line and the lines to the carbs if that makes sense. The only fuel movement from the primer would be only when you're using the primer on a cold start.

Nice vid, but why no hose clamps? If one of those hoses dislodges you'll run so lean you'll likely burn down a piston.

Not to often to these come off,try to pull one off,it is a pain in the ass.I you feel comfortable and worried about the line coming off,go to your local hardware store and get a small package of small Zip Ties. These are small enough to put on,don't over tighten, and will guarantees the fuel line will stay on,and you will feel better, bust mostly they will stay on,as the edge of the tee's have a sharp edge when the hose is installed, and they will grip and not come off.Good luck,I hope this comment helps you,as I put the Zip ties on almost all of my fuel type connections, even on some of the lines going to the carb, oil injection lines, etc.Good luck my friend...ENJOY.

Very nice except we’re not slow and retarded. The parts where you show the fittings only need to be shown for two seconds two minutes. Also unless I missed it where to buy the kit would be nice. I’m gonna go look on eBay

r pm good point about the video editing. I got the parts from a local snowmobile shop but I’m sure you can find them anywhere online
