How To Make Sleeping Platform | Land Cruiser 100 Series Car Camping Setup 

This looks fun. I need to build a sleep platform for my Crosstrek.

Pro-tip for drilling holes through carpet:- get a soldering-iron and stab/melt a hole through the carpet before you drill into it. Otherwise, very nice job. Very similar to what I've done in my Discovery. The drawers are in the back permanently and I can fit the rear seats for daily-driving. When I go camping I can remove the back seats, fit the sleeping-platform in their place and I've got a heap of extra storage space underneath it. Also, the sleeping-platform is the perfect height for sliding wolfpack boxes underneath them. Also, also, the sleeping platform has a hinged 60/40 split in it so my dog can hop from the pavement to the floor of the car and then up onto the sleeping platform easily.

Nicely done. Don't cut you platform to miss the roof handle. The handle is for a passenger to hold on to. Not a seating area any longer. Remove handle and Bob's your uncle.

I got 100 series also, I would suggest buy a rooftop tent. I went with Bush company Alpha and extremely happy with that. 30-second setup and my bed is ready for the night. 🤙

Great job! Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope you are recovering ok. Think about some pneumatic door struts. Attach them so the shelf would stay down, but they would hold them up when you need to load and unload. Just an idea.

Great job on this build. A good replacement for wooden boards for overland builds to save weight is PVC Foamboard. Light strong and it can be glued together using PVC glue and primer.

Very nice! We love learning new skills. We have a friend who has been helping us named Jason. He has an amazing skill set and collection of metal tools. My sister always says to us that she needs a Jason! Looks like you too have a Jason...LOL. Had you given any thought of just removing the grab handle. So you wouldn't have to bother cutting your board? Love how you worked with the seat bracket truck hardware to create new brackets.
