It's a really great thing that you share your knowledge and are specific about it. I have learned a lot watching your posts and I thank you for that. It's a big big help when unlike 90% of the posts out there are just people catching fish but when someone takes the time to explain what tackle to use, what bait or lure to use, when, where, why the targeted fish is doing something is all just so valuable information! It inspires confidence that I to can catch that trophy fish instead of just being frustrated wondering what am I doing wrong?... Thanx a lot, and I am TOTALLY hooked on soaking in all the info I can from your posts!!! Kurt
When I was younger, I didn't have anyone to teach me how to fish or guide me along the way. There was also minimal information online regarding land based fishing techniques, aside from www.boatlessfishing.com . I'm happy I can share my passion and the things I have learned to help others. When I first started making these tutorial videos I was annoyed tbh, due to the fact that I never had anyone just spill out all the info to me, but now I realize that as fishermen we are always learning and always on the hunt for knowledge. No matter how "advanced" or good we think we are there is always someone out there who knows a little bit more than us. Tight lines Kurt and thanks for watching -Viktor
ha i am clarence2society on boatless... good vid man.. and ppl think im nuts cause i put light weight on bottom for snook... caught a few this way when they are around... :) good vid man. ive been recently veering away from flouro... using 50 lb leader material the last couple weeks.... even got a nice jewfish at channel 2..
*I bought these and used them at the river where I get snags often they have done a **enjoyable.fishing** recommend great job of not breaking along with some strong line I purchased as well. They are super durable and easy to use.*
yup thats how we get theta juno except for smaller hooks when water is clear.and sometimes they want frozen bait over live other than that your on point.
Awesome video ! Thanks for all the info about your approach to making it happen . Just wondering what kind of bait do you normally take with you ? Not just for snook but basically overall . Sorry for being so nosy , I’m currently learning about saltwater since I’m thinking of moving to Florida . Thank you in advance for everything .
ill be heading to Juno pier Tomorrow 8/20/16, in search of my first giant snook, glad I saw this because I was about to very light on my leader haha thank for the video. any tips for this time of year?
An 8ft star. Heres the problem, not bashing your reel but those squalls only put out 13lbs max drag. When you are trying to stop a big fish on the pier you are going to be fishing around 20-30lbs of drag. Not to say it can' be done with the squall, but the drag capacity may be a big inhibitor whine comes to stopping big fish around structure.
The general idea is there, I would just lighten up the leader. I'd fish 60b leader max and most likely 40-50lb. Also there isn't much current on the west coast piers and the baits are smaller, so a 1-2oz weight will do. A lot of snook are caught on Live shrimp on the west coast, so a jighead will work better in this scenario.
QUESTION...... i have 80 lb mono that i cannot seem to straiten out, i even tied it to my chair and made it taught for 24 hours..... AND I CURLED BACK UP AGAIN... what do i do.... will i still catch fish???
Dude we should def meet up at Tybee Island one weekend. Its my dream to land a big shark. Biggest iv gotten is maybe 15lbs :/ "fishing with subscriber(:" lol forreal
How long do you wait for the snook to swallow the bait when you're fishing big baits like mojarra and croaker? I fished them for the first time the other day and lost 3 big fish to spit hooks off the T. Each fish ran with the bait for a pretty good time. Anything you recommend to fix this problem?
1. What kind of hooks are you fishing? (Try those hooks I talk about in the video) 2. Make sure your line is completely tight and not slack when setting up. 3. Hook your boat shallow enough to where the hook will pull out and not stay in the bait. 4. sometimes they can be smart like that and no matter what you do, they just don;t get hooked. Persistence is key, at least your getting bites and not many people even get bites, just keep at it and you will get it down. I like to hook those baits through the nosed make sure your hooks are sharp and set them hard on the those big fish!
Lol just look in the water and fish different baits. The ones that get hit tend to be the ones they are keyed in on. Ask other fishermen around you and most of all put in the time and you will figure out patterns. Being a good fishermen means putting in the time it takes to learn what fish want and when they want it, pay attention to tides, moon phase, current etc.
Thanks man, I see which conventional reel would you suggest that won't break the bank ? I tried the diawa sealine and penn baja but found them on the heavy side. Also what weight class do you suggest for 8ft star ?
I've hooked in to snook 2 times and I couldn't bring it up and I fish bottom like you said in your vide but I catch catfish all the time and I'm tired of catching them I have only caught one snook in my life never caught one again all I keep catching is catching is catfish what should I do I use live bait and I still catch them
Super awesome video man It helped a lot! But I do have one question about how to make your thick liter knots tight, sometimes when I tie mine they look kinda loose and I cant get it to tIghten with my hand. Any tips would be great!
Tie a uni Knot. I can't really help you by typing, I would have to see what you are doing wrong. Chances are you are not tying the knot the right way or just need pull your knot tighter.
Hey landshark I wanna go fishing at Juno pier and I heard there is a lot of snook their like i mean a lot my freind landed. A 43 inches their and I wanted to know were can I get a rod and reel for big snook fishing I only wanna spend about 150$ thanks.
hey man nice video. I have a 9 foot pole with a battle 2 6,000 penn. I have pull a lot of fish with it but some time with the set up that you have in this video I get caught in rocks a lot do you have any video for that will help me and what will be the best bait for the golf in Florida. thanks and happy 4th of July
Happy 4th to you as well. Are you getting caught in rocks from casting or fish taking you there? That setup will work, i don't know what rod you have but reel is ok. Best bait to use to use is whatever is in the area you are fishing. So if the pilchards are there fish those. Bigger snook like bigger baits, like whiting, croakers, ladyfish and even crabs. Experiment and see what you get the most bites on.
Idk much about the west coast, but I do know the snook here are substantially bigger lol. A big fish there is 36-40in while a big snook here is over 40in. Ladyfishis the best bait IMO, we just don't have as many as you. Ladyfish> Manperch> Croakers.
I hope you mean over as in last year over, lol, cause im planning to head to juno to break my pb sometime this summer, most likely the end of this month. Any tips? Also do you think my avet sxj 5.3 on a star delux 8ft heavy would do the trick with 60lb mono and 80lb fluoro? im still looking around for different tips on line and leader cause im not familiar with your coast. Thanks from a sarasota youngin!!
That seems overkill to me the reason is using a heavy conventional reel on the surf with 30lb mono and 80lb mono leader I have landed several Blacktip sharks in the 60 t0 110 lb range of course there is no structure to worry about when fishing for Snook and Jacks I use 16lb mono with 20 - 30lb test and have landed a few Jacks in the 25 to 30lb class and can cast a good distance using a multiplier baitcaster Seigler or Akios reels and feel a good baitcaster gives me better control throughout the battle with the brutes, great videos.
Right now its probably just bluefish, and ladyfish. the pier is closed at night I believe till the end of the month. I would double check before you go.
If u get a snook can u keep him... Or do i have to release it by rules of the pier.... Heading out there on the 24th.... Leaving with some mullets, are they good bait
Snook sseaon is currently closed until sep 1. It's not a pier regulation, but a statewide regulation set out by FWC, the governing body in Florida, when it comes to Fishing.
Personally I don't fish the van stalls. Most of my friends have the Stalls and love them, I can tell tell you they do last, but just like any reels they will need maintenance and won't last forever. Having said that, if you can afford one, go for stand I think you will be happy with one, I just prefer fishing my Saragossa. They are much smoother, but the nice thing about stalls, is they put out a lot of drag are relativity sleep and small, while boasting pretty large line capacities to reels in similar size classes.
Landshark Fishing thanks bro, I've caught reds, tarpon, drum, trout and just about every other fish besides snook hopefully I can get one, what time do you recommend going
Iam fishing off russle peir in Panama trying to catch big fish I catch pin fish and cigar minnow for bait but I cast out no bites when real in no bait is artificial baits best for big fish just wondering haven't caught anything while fishing besides lil fish on Sabiki rig any pointers for catching big fish
Not the best IMO, they work better dead than alive. Blue runner heads on bottom. Snook season is over for now until sep1, right now its only catch and release.
When I hook my live pin fish they shook never grabs it properly. I have it attacked to green float with 3 feet of 40 lb fluro. Circle hook in nose. Why do they not hook?
