I tried this receipe last week and it turned out very well. Adding little bit of poha did the wonders as batter came out very fluffy. Never had such soft yet not sticky ragi idlis at home. Thank you very much for this receipe.

I tried this recipe , It came out realy good .Even if there is ragi in it we can only taste a little of that .It tastes like the real idli with a little bit of ragi flavour .I could also make dosa with that batter .Thank you for the amazing recipe .Looking forward to your more recipes .

Nisa, i have tried this earlier...but the ragi takes long time to grind. Had little difficulty. Instead i replace it with ragi flour and it gives equal amount of fluffiness. You used to mention the ingredient list with measurement in the description list always...please do it. Sometimes, on the the go, i like to look up only the ingredients list and measurement!!

@@pinkyashaa & Pearl 1111, i would soak 1 glass of udal in the morning with 2 tspn methi seeds, seperately soak 3/4 glass of brown rice + 1/4 cup cooked rice or poha. Just before grinding, i would take 1 1/4 cup of ragi flour, put very little water, mix and keep aside. Then i grind all the other soaked ingredients and add to ragi flour, mix together and keep it for fermenting overnight. Next day as usually prepare idlis, this batter is good for dosa also...very crispy and crunchy. I recently brought jowar rava so sometimes, i just replace rice. atleast i donot have guilt of eating rice!!

@@Nirmala36915 i would soak 1 glass of udal in the morning with 2 tspn methi seeds, seperately soak 3/4 glass of brown rice + 1/4 cup cooked rice or poha. Just before grinding, i would take 1 1/4 cup of ragi flour, put very little water, mix and keep aside. Then i grind all the other soaked ingredients and add to ragi flour, mix together and keep it for fermenting overnight. Next day as usually prepare idlis, this batter is good for dosa also...very crispy and crunchy. I recently brought jowar rava so sometimes, i just replace rice. atleast i donot have guilt of eating rice!!

Hi Nisha, they hv come out really fluffy. What'd be the ratio if i use ragi flour in place of whole grain? Dyu think it'll vary the nutritional nutritional element? Btw, jst a tip to u, given u use methi often: soak a cup of methi overnight n allow it to sprout the nxt day.. then park sprouted methi in fridge. It's long lasting. U can use it whenever required and it results in reduction of overall soaking time gvn methi calls for the longest soaking time compared to rice/millet/urad. And of course, added nutritive value of the output.
