I'm trying to find potassium permanganate but I find it black or white. I don't see your red color. Is there any difference? Also, I can't find your NPK 14-14-14. Most have a lower level of P like 8 or less. I found one with 15-15-15, is that one good for them?
You show the components and what they are for, but you don't tell what they ARE. I have no idea what that block of stuff with the holes in it is. And some of the tan chunks of stone. What is all that? Please name the materials used.
Cakes in the shape of honeycomb coal serve at a buffet restaurant in Xiangyang in central China's Hubei Province on Thursday, February 25, 2016. The cakes are said to be made with materials such as black rice and chocolates and are given a "Like" by customers. Honeycomb coal, is the name for large coal briquettes used in China for cooking and home heating. Do u want to taste it?
I am very happy to watch your videos. May I know why they are drowned in a container filled with water and does this cause them to rot the roots? Is it possible to write the components of the soil so that I can translate them into Arabic? Please reply
This video is incredibly insightful and will save the audience months, if not years, of experiments to acquire the knowledge to successfully keep succulents. Please do yourself a favor and watch it with SUBTITLES (turn captions on). One thing I could add: if the grower live in a humid area, instead of clay or glazed pots, you could try grow succulents in steel baskets lined with coco coir sheets. This would allow even more air flow to the root area and complete drainage after heavy showers (using the suggested soil mix in the video, lower the percentage of organic soil materials the higher the humidity).
Oh wow, you really a professional ❤❤❤ We keep looking for this kind of comment, that we can learn more. We try with the coco coir sheets before, but it a bit difficult when we repot them, the roots was pierce through and cover the bottom haha Thank a lot, we will discuss to do somethings new ❤❤❤
@@joygarden.succulent When I replaced the coco coir sheet, I just cut whichever roots stuck to the old sheet. The good thing about the succulents are they regrow their roots super fast in this kind of setup.

Even 10% would make me happy. Thanks a lot for sharing.
I think it good to be use, though it has different color but same effect. About NPK, 15-15-15 is good too, you can use it. Please take care of those succulent, you will have such a beautiful garden soon. Keep take care and loving succulent, thanks for watching, love! ❤
@@joygarden.succulent thank you for the answer. Also, the potassium permanganate, as said in the product bag, has to be dissolved in water, but you apply it directly in the mix. I guess there's no problem too. Forgot to ask that too 😅. Also, do you sell your plants to Spain? It's a long trip and I don't know if they would survive the journey. Thanks a lot. Your plants are simply BEAUTIFUL.
Hi! Loving your content. I didn't quite understand the moisture retention soil composition at 5:06. Is it just the peatmoss? or some other type of soil together? Because at 6:35 there is the brownest soil, and the blackest soil that has the peatmoss information. If you can clarify, thanks!
Sometimes we use different type of soil, but almost is peatmoss. We also use coir mix with soil, but just for plant at the temperate zone. So happy with your question. Thanks a lot for watching ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this clip: 1- With subs: I can clearly understand what u're saying. Very clearly. 2- Soil mix ratio n me being lazy or having fun😅😅😁😁 watering my babies 3- How to check on the drainage of the soil. 4- How to remove/ clean my soil b4 potting I do have a question for you: Do succulents and cacti have different soil requirements?? When I re-use my soil, what about the nutrients? Thank you so much🙏🏻🙏🏻
4- you can check drainage by putting the soil in a pot, pouring water in the soil and see how much comes out of the bottom. And, yes, cacti and succulents can be potted in the same soil. They live in nearby the exact same climates.
Love all your videos! Very inspiring! I love to plant succulents and these videos will definitely help me familiarize more on how to take care of them. May I also know what type of stone do you use on top layer of your plant? Before, I use decomposed granite but then it's too expensive here in our country if you will use it in every succulents you'll plant. So, I decided to use pumice stones to succulents and red lava rocks on all of my cactus. Thank you! :)
Really nice to hear that from you, so lovely ❤ We using lava rock to put on the surface, for both succulent and cactus. Cannot use pumice stone because they are so light, can be washed away when watered haha ❤
Peatmoss yerine farklı malzeme olmaz mı 🙄 bulunması zor görünüyor, ilk defa duydum araştırdım, mangal kömürü gibi bile satan var. Toprağınızı çok beğendim, ondan yapmak istedim ama peatmoss nasıl bulurum bilmiyorum 😒
It really depends on what the plants die to. If it's root rot, fungal diseases, pests (thrips, etc), then I agree that the soil should be discarded or add to the compost pile to "cook" it. If the plant is perfectly fine and you just need to transplant it to a bigger pot, reuse the oil soil mix will help reduce the transplant shock. Luckily, succulents are very resilient, but if you care for multiple different species, this is a good tip. The second point would be succulent soil mix, which has a very high percentage of inorganic amendments (perlite, pumice, vermiculite, fertilizer, sand, etc), is a poor host for pathogens, and very expensive to replace. You can wash the dirt off them and use steam, bake, or sun bake method to sterilize.
Sou do Brasil 🇧🇷
Your vedios are excellent teacher. I would request you to show sub titles in english so we can learn better. I have around 200 succulents and growing for last one year.
Again a very useful video. I am from India and we have rainy season for 4 mths. Summers are also intense. So protecting them from weather is also is a big part. Thank you so much for showing the steaming method. Its costly to make soil everytime and i will try the steaming method. I love the setup you have with all glass and its so neatly arranged and beautiful. Please can u make a vdo on sempervivum and potting them? I have somehow difficulty keeping them alive so am dng something wrong. Thank you and u have very good information given very comprehensively.
@@aparna8099 Hi. From Nashik. Soil is very important. Vermi compost with perlite and pumice is a good combo for india. Also haworthia dnt like direct sunlight. Bright indirect in our conditions work well. Hope this Is useful. All d best!
Coco peat is inert in nutrition but has as good water retention as peat moss and more sustainable and eco-friendly. If you decide to grow with coco peat, mix with vermi compost (worm casting) or organic compost.
Holaaa! Disculpa pero en el % de los materiales que utilizas no me cuadra, ya qué hay 6 ingredientes pero solo está el % de 5, además como nutriente solo está el químico pero no hay uno orgánico
We use not that much nature soil, almost ingredient is stone. Now we changing a bit about ingredient and percentage, I thinking about make a new video about it. Thanks for watching 😍
Discovered your Channel today. Interesting and informative. Subscribed at 4.27K. ATB Also, using potassium permanganate is new to me. May I ask its specific function and if I could use it for other plants too? Thank You. 🇲🇾
Potassium permaganate is a household antiseptic compound. You can replace it with horticultural activated charcoal (solid form) or a regular flush with diluted hydrogen peroxide. These are prevention measure against fungal and bacterial infections if your succulents are subjected to frequent watering, or rain.
Did you turn on the subtitles? We added the name of stone that you can easy to find it, and you can replace it by another kind of stone that you can found at your area 🥰
I live in a country where the weather is very hot and there are many hours of sunlight so I do not worry that much about the soil. I use perlite and pumice and that´is all. If I water today in two days the soil will be completely dry again. Thank you very much for your advices. Your plants are gorgeous.
Glad my video useful for you 🧡 The most of thing I worry about the soil is they have to drain as soon as possible. Enjoy our video. Thank you so much 🧡
How frequent do you water? I just gotten into succulents a few months ago. The leaves keep dropping. Mixed answers from RU-vid either overwatered or underwatered.
Thank you 😍 We made a video about water succulent, hope that you can get some advise here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CsLj_OeLl2E.html
@@joygarden.succulent Thanks! I bought similar soil composition you listed. The percentages are based on volume? The 5% others is the NPK 15? Seems to be a lot or is there other things that make up the 5% others? Another question is if I can replace Peat Moss with dried sphagnum moss?
I recommend Schultz. It's a liquid fertilizer, fairly potent. You need to add it to your watering every week or every 2 weeks. For slow release fertilizer pellets, Micracle-Gro is also decent if you tend to water your succulents more often (2+ a week).
@@AnnetasticStuff you mean in slow release solid form? I'd be careful with high NPK concentration (the ones used for veggies and crops) as they could cause root burns on a smaller succulent.
Hello first of all thanks for awesome videos and information 😍 I am New gardener I have 2 Q 1st. In 6:32 what is below other 5% brown soil? 2nd. I am from pakistan and right now temperature is around 40° in my city and many of my succulents are dying due to soil issue since i am using only sand/bhallu mitti suggested by the person i recently buy more then 50 plants... After last raining that sand is still wet and now some more plants start to die😔😔 This soil mix is expensive especially if i wanna repot 60+ plants But u think its good soil mix for 40° c temp Thanks
Welcome on board ❤️ Under 5% is anything kind of fertilizer that you can find. The yellow one I'm using is slow release fertilizer NPK 14-14-14. At a hot area, I think you need a very quick drainage soil mix, succulents need the moisture, but the high temperature is steaming the root. Use more stone for your soil mix may be can fix your situation. Succulents like the rain, but not that much. Rain in a long time is too much for them, so just find some way. #tryyourbest
@@joygarden.succulent same was happening to gollum jade so i put 40% pumice 60% sand for now to see results. By far it stop burning maybe i use ur soil mix on few plants to see results thanks❤
