Use the hydrometer to check after fermentation has died down. Get your gravity reading. Make sure to sanitize your equipment! I use star san. Also, make sure to record your reading. Make sure to reseal with airlock. Wait another week and take another reading. If it's the same, it's most likely done. If it dropped a few more points, well rinse and repeat until your readings are the same.
