So glad you found the video helpful! The easiest way to attach tassel to the tambourine is to pull the ribbon loop through the bottom of the opening where the jingles are and then pull the tassel through the loop.
You can make the tassels as long or as short as you want. Just use sharp scissors to cut the mylar fringe to the desired length. I usually make them 19" in length.
Unfortunately the company where we used to buy the metallic fringe is no longer in business. However, if you search for "metallic fringe", you may find some sources. Also, sometimes metallic fringe can be found in the party section at Walmart or other stores. I hope this helps!
You could look at metallic fringe curtain party decorations. They're usually meant for over doorways or as a wall backdrop for photography. The length will be fairly long. Lay out the curtain as flat as you can on a work surface and place tape across it (catching multiple strands) at the desired lengths of your fringe. I would make all of your tape rows before cutting then you will have even fringe. I bet you can get a lot of fringe out of one curtain!
