Quick story… About 20 years ago the corporate office I worked for was in Cockeysville MD. When I would fly out there, the ladies would make me THE BEST crab cakes. I quit, company went under (I think) lost touch with the ladies. Through the years, I’ve tried to replicate the cakes, no luck. I’ve tried HELLA cakes, never as I remembered them. Fast forward to a week ago. I knew I recognized your very faint accent. When you said you were from the area, we’re making crab cakes, my heart skipped a beat! Made the crab cakes today, not exaggerating… they legit made me cry, took me back to the best crab cakes I’ve ever had, the ladies, the fun we had, Chesapeake Bay, everything. THANK YOU so much. Love everything about your cooking channel, keep up the good work☺️
I made these for my husband's birthday and he's from Baltimore. It was my first time making them using this recipe. I didn't use capers but it still came out great! He said that when he took a bite, it reminded him of home!
@@wegotthis247as her husband AND she did her best for the first time and for you to judge something you never seen that's a wild statement... stick to your video-less channel
I made these tonight and the crab soup is finishing up as I text. These were the best crab cakes I have ever had. The tartar sauce is chef’s kiss. I don’t like sweet relish so I used dill relish. The grocery store had snow crab on sale for $4.99/lb so I cracked those babies and made it happen. So delicious! Can’t wait to show this recipe off to my family. Thank you for this gem!
Made these with one small hack that I saw in another YT video...in order to get more of a pan seared crust, I popped a baking pan with 2 tablespoons of olive oil in it for about 4 minutes...then put my crab cakes on....cooked for 7-8 minutes...took them out and flipped them to sear the other side...cooked for another 7-8 minutes... pan sear crust...delicious!
Ok, I made this recipe tonight for dinner. I bought everything as required to prepare this dish. I've NEVER used or eaten capers before, I didn't know what to expect. I usually don't care for tartar sauce, but I trust you, Matt. I followed your instructions and gave it a taste. Holy moly that was a taste bud teaser!! Creamy, sweet, citrus and a little tart. My wife and I love 🦀cakes, and this recipe was better than any restaurant 🦀 cake I've EVER had!! The tartar sauce compliments the 🦀 cake perfectly. The 🦀 cakes were HUGE!! So filling, I was stuffed👌 I'm definitely going to make these again. Thanks for sharing this recipe 🙌
What’s up my brotha love the recipe @MrMakrItHappen do you live in the DMV? Or have a restaurant here yet? If not I’ll wait in it your always on point I appreciate you for the great content
@Maria Clayton Not sure, but they come in a jar. They look a little like peas. I usually make Mexican food, Asian food, and Southern style cajun foods, and I grill quite a bit. No use for capers in those styles of cooking.😆
I made this tonight and it was honestly one of the best crab cakes I’ve had. I took the meat straight out of the crab rather than a can so it took a lot longer but it was so worth the wait
Made these tonight and they were awesome!!! My wife and I really loved this recipe. Thank you for sharing it with us. I also made a shrimp pasta on the side. Was a perfect meal!!!
My 6 year old son and I just made crab cakes using this recipe from leftover crabs for Mother's Day with almost no prep and they turned out so good! Going to try it with the complete recipe again in the future. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful!!! I've been following you for a few months now, and EVERY recipe I make from you is 🔥🔥🔥!!! My family asks for me to repeat each dish over and over! I'm adding this one to my list!!!
I am a Baltimore Girl and these look great. I only eat crab cakes about once a year usually during the Christmas season. I can't wait to try your version.
Using my daughters page to comment but this was AMAZING. You made the instructions so easy. I’ve been so disappointed anytime I order crab cakes but now that I know I can make them myself (and the tarter sauce!!!), I don’t see myself ordering these from a restaurant again. Thank you so much!
Like everybody else in the comments, i made these today, by the specs, and they were something serious! Cant wait to have them again! The tartar was off the chain, folks wanting the recipe after a taste! All around, you were spot on, with them being the best i ever had, and the home made tartar sauce to boot was a game changer. Excellent!
My husband & I made these today & used our own picked crab & cans of jumbo lump crab! Most delicious crab cakes & filling! I was a little skeptical of the tartar sauce but all I can say is “WOW”!!! So yummy!!! 0:33
I like the new intro! I was born and raised in Baltimore, and went to college in DC. I moved away in 2019, first to Detroit and now ATL. I always get crab cakes when I go home to visit, but now I’ll be making my own! I’m so excited to try these soon! 🥰🦀🍽
These came out great, my family absolutely loved them! Great recipe & great narration. I appreciated you calling out the sauce taste-test to make sure we get a good balance before adding the egg. Thanks for sharing!
Made this yesterday and it def brought back memories of visiting the Maryland shore during summers plus one of the most delicious crab cake fests at Baltimore's Inner Harbor as a kid. Out here in California there is NOTHING that even comes close.

These were the best crab cakes I’ve ever made. Thanks for making this recipe available for the world. I’m from Maryland, born and raised so they definitely are the way I’m used to eating them ❤great job!
I made these crab cakes the other night and they were soooo good! I’m definitely going to keep that recipe. My family loved them too! Thanks for sharing!
I've only had crab cakes once and I'm from the east coast. I had them in Maryland and want to make my own. Thanks for the recipe. I will give my feedback.
I made this last night I just used hot curry and jerk spice as my seasoning and I also made a pineapple Habanero raspberry champagne Jam for sliders and OMG MY MY MY IT WAS SO GOOD and a hit my family is pitching in so we can make them for the super bawl
I'm from the DMV. I had a crab feast so the next day I wanted to make crab cakes. I picked the crabs and it wasn't enough meat. Sooo I added salmon, and it actually turned out good.😊
So you know the Lump with Jumbo lump trick. I worked at the ravens stadium as a cook. That’s how they prepare their crab cakes also. Very little filling
Dude your are the bomb I love all your videos. I wish I could afford to make some of these. Love this video especially living in Maryland for 27 years before moving back to Houston
Soooooooo imma need you to make a cookbook bcuz I’m taking up way too much data on this iPad saving every last recipe you put out! Come through with the cookbook! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You weren't lying about the tartar sauce!! So good!! I added diced red onion, celery, shrimp, and jalapeño (it's the Texas in me lol) to the crab cakes.
Oh my goodness, didn’t want ribs, this holiday. I made your Crab Cakes, and tartar sauce, delicious! This winter, I’m going to make, the ribs, in the oven! Happy Labor Day.
I'm originally from Maryland and I remember Me Grandma's Crabcakes well. Use all Jumbo Lump Crabmeat 🦀 (3Lbs) about one forth the amount of crackermeal you use here or 1/4 cup 1 Egg well beaten 1/4 cup mayo 2-tbs French's mustard 1-tbs Worcestershire 1-tsp Coleman's mustard 1/2 Lemon squeezed & Lemon 🍋 Zest J O # 1 Seafood Spice - J O # 1 Seafood Spice - 50% less salt - whichever you prefer seasoned to taste. J O is the brand all the MD Crabhouses use If you want a little heat use Louisiana (the perfect) Hot Sauce. "One drop does it" Louisiana adds heat without changing the taste of your food. It's dirt cheap about $1 per bottle and only has 3 ingredients - aged 🌶 pepper, distilled vinegar & salt Optional: 1/4 Chopped Parsley fresh 1/2 Onion sauteed 1/2 Bell Pepper sauteed When you're using Jumbo Lump Crabmeat you want 98% Crab 🦀 Because you want Crabmeat to shine. I like to drizzle melted Butter over the top before baking then and a little more before finishing the Crabcakes under the broiler for a few minutes. This makes about 12 - 8oz Crabcakes. God Bless Y'all Jimmy in NC....
i just made and put my crab cakes in the oven following your recipe, so i'll def let you know...fyi, i've never had a crab cake before, so i hope it's good.
Checking in from Manassas Virginia (703) I just love your channel Matt ! Keep up the great work the food always looks amazing . I will definitely be trying this at home soon.
