I'm from north of New Orleans and, in the 1950s, my aunt made this cake using mahaw jelly. She got three layers from each pan so the cake was six layers. It was heavenly. Thanks for sharing.

Is it 1/8 of baking powder or 1 teaspoon? You said 1/8 in the video but you have 1 teaspoon listed. Just asking for clarity.

I tried this recipe, and when put the 2/3 cup milk, it didn't come as the batter consistency as yours. You must have had more than 2/3 cups of milk.
