As a real player, you gotta have respect for your colleagues, and have an overall good teamwork in the shop. You are right on the keyword for inspections & recommendations, that plays a huge role for the shop.

So what I had before was five service carts and I sold three of those and kept two of the bigger ones. One will be my main service cart and the other will be a diagnostic cart.

Shops need to sell diagnostic rime PROPERLY... In my experience, I've been punished for becoming a dependable diagnostic tech because there's no money in it. It literally all comes down to putting wrenches on vehicles and with the new economy people are extremely reluctant to purchase repairs at shops. They show up to get the cheap diagnosis and then run home to find a backyard mechanic to make the repairs. It's a lose - lose. I decided yesterday that I have to get a second job now to pay my bills anymore. Other than that and the flat-rate nightmare in general, is the fact that prices go up every year for almost everything.... EXCEPT wages.

As a customer I do the same , I'm not loaded with money and what Ford wants to charge me for repairs is ridiculous... Or any dealer for they matter.
