Ive been doing this for 17 years and Bart has made a bigger difference in my game than any other player or RU-vid channel. He is for advanced players what Nathan Williams is for newbie players. Bart made card removal and preflop action such a bigger factor in my turn and river range constructions.

Interesting, I have been told you never call if someone raises big on the river. So I think snapcalling here was a mistake, as your opponent had too many back doors. Flush draw, possible trips or quads even (its risky to call/bet when theres a pair on the board)

The way this hand played out mainly V-checking the turn + huge bet on river it was easy to see he had a flush.
@SavvaSou
@SavvaSou Год назад
It’s an under bluffed spot. V isn’t betting pot on the river with any of AK, AQ, AJ or AT (non hearts). V also can’t have any bluffs because the best flush hand (QJss) folds pre given the 4b pre. So as played, we are beaten by AKhh, AQhh, AJhh, and AThh, as well as AA which can play sneaky. V doesn’t have A8, 88 or 77 given the action pre. So That’s 5 combos. Given pot odds we need to find 2.5 bluff hands or hands we beat (where V value owns himself). Let’s say 3 combos. I challenge anyone to find 3 bluffs in villains range. As I said, he can’t have a flush draw, so what bluffs do we beat? V is not betting pot on river with AK. I’m really surprised Bart said this was a call, given that on the river he actually specified that the backdoor flush came in and villain could have an Ace high flush.

@@SavvaSouhank you I was thinking it was a call watching this video in real time, due to only needing a couple of bluffs. But you’re dead right and I should have 1) seen that V needed 2.5 bluffs not 2 (I need to be more precise when doing pot odds). 2) No way V had a busted flush draw as I originally credited. He could have decided to bluff AJ clubs but that’s leveling and pretty rare. But still not enough bluffs. I’m still learning and checking my ego at the door when coming to the comments has helped me immensely. GL at the tables boys!

I don’t know that I agree with the analysis on the river. We’re not beating a ton of hands on this river, maybe like AHQ or QHQ. We don’t beat all the Ax suites that could be out there either. Everything else were tying or losing too and we’re not blocking any flushes. Why would villain bet the river without the Ah? If he doesn’t have the Ah, that means we can and it’s a terrible spot for a bluff.

Bart, what sizing would be best for a turn raise? 300 for targeting JJ, QQ and KK, but 550 for targeting an Ace, or loose suited connected preflop calls like QJs, KQs ... so, 300 or 550? If 550 then, would Hero shove on river? If 300, would Hero go for 70% river sizing to target AQs-AJs ? And fold to a river raise...

UTG calling means they can't have 88/77 I agree. Shouldn't even have AQ really. Turn I'd say big bet is necessary say 600-650. Can't have 99 or JT unless complete donkey. River isn't fantastic as Axhh could easily be in range. Agree folding isn't an option, would be nice to have Ah or Kh tbh. Weird river donk. What's wrong with villains play? He calls pre with royal flushing Ace. He may know utg2 usually calls so good odds. On flop he hits A and has back door str and flush draw. Hero could be cbetting KK or QQ, so he's going nowhere. On turn VILLAIN hits gin. 9h gives him both draws. Hero is way behind with KK QQ etc and way ahead with AK AQ AJ, so checking controls pot and also entices Hero to value own himself if villain gets there. He gets there and value bets. Hero calls down with AK. Nothing to see here, move along..

@ligafftheindifferent3495 Год назад
Villain should fold AhTh against most 4-betting ranges. This hand sucks vs AQ+/TT+ and that is already a fairly loose 4 betting range for most players. As played, the Villain got into a bad spot and the deck saved him. Should the Villain fold this flop? That is a tough call, since the 4-bettor is almost certain to bet this flop with his range, but the point is that AhTh is in a tough spot, is probably behind, and is playing a very large pot. Folding AhTh here avoids all of that. This hand, as sweet as it looks, will flop a lot Axy and Txy boards and sometimes xy will be K,Q or J. None of those flops feel good vs a 4-bet. With the 4-bet AhTh is really no different than Ah4h.

Royal flushing ace? LoL This logic is flawed on so many levels... pref ATs is too wide a call, when UTG and one next to act... gives huge incentive to UTG2 (who cold 3bet from UTG2, that shows strength) to 5bet squeeze... then on the river, if you think CO had KK or QQ or small Ax that checked turn, why the 90% river bet? You're only targeting and praying for CO to have strong Ax (which I agree with, but your train of thought and to some extent, CO's line doesnt align with that)... so... I can easily understand CO randomizing and mixing his turn strategy, but CO's play is too loose, too lucky...
