If you have to stretch it, there will be a gap over time. I would use an overlay

why would it shrink if it was never stretched in the first place? I'm just genuinely curious bc none of my seams have raised but I usually overlap them

No it won’t if it’s done right. That’s why with seams it’s important to preshrink it with the heat gun for a couple seconds. The film is slightly stretched during the manufacturing process and the heat gun will remove that stretch.

different colors next to eachother, weird angles, i'm wrapping a motorcycle tank and want the curve of the side to be the og color, this allows me to cut the vinyl to shape.

If the tutorial is useless to you and you have no idea what project it would be used on, why did you watch the video in the first place?? I'm curious 🤔

I thought that this would work, but the problem is in just a few months or so with the change of temperature outside, the vinyl compresses and expands naturally making the linear gap between the two sheets more visible.

You don't want to cut into the car's paint. In this video - the two layers of vinyl match up perfectly in the end - he saves a lot of knifeless tape with this technique as he's using only one pass of knifeless.

It's called 3M knifeless tape

It cuts the vinyl exactly where you want to.

It’s a better way of trimming the vinyl precisely without having to do something like cutting on the car.

You are right that works too. This is just another method to do it.

I'm confused on this process? No video shows a close up view.. How do you line the two (cutting tape) up perfectly? on top of eachother? My fjr1300 is going to be a nightmare..

There is no such thing as a seamless wrap. Even in this video when he did the close up shots at the end you could still see the seam if you're paying attention. The idea is just to get the lines of each side to line up and not overlap. I've never had to lay two pieces of knifeless tape down, only just one. You just have to make sure that you're cut starts correctly and that you don't pull too hard while going across the wrap since you're cutting through two layers of vinyl. Tons of methods, and it just takes time to learn and to feel comfortable doing it.
