Absolutely awesome! I really like how you didn’t weather the Gauntlet, because the one seen in the movie was brand new. It sucks that you can’t wear it though, and that you didn’t use metallic paint, but I’m sure you have your reasons. I’m currently working on mine, and fingers crossed that it comes out looking as good as yours!

Edit: I see you already use a lot of the techniques for scratch building cardboard models. I highly recommend using Sketchfab to search for models if you want to scratch build from cardboard. They provide great references, as you can rotate them and view them from any angle. Or, if you know how to use a 3D program, you can sketch your own model and use it for a reference. When I run across a channel like this, I usually subscribe to it and leave a comment, because I'm building my own DIY scratch build RU-vid channel. I can't work, I'm kind of crazy in the head, I keep getting denied for disability, so this long shot seems like my best shot. So, I go around looking for these kinds of channels and liking them and subscribing, hoping that karma will give me a break and I'll have the same kind of attention drawn to my channel. .. . . I've been perusing your channel for about half an hour, and what can I say? Super cool models. I can't be sure, but I'm assuming that you are designing these models in Blender or CAD or 3DS max, 3DS Max was a software I was taught on I have a computer animation degree, but that's of no consequence - but I was just wondering, after perusing maybe a half dozen of your projects, have you ever considered scratch building out of you know, materials that aren't printed 3D objects? Talking about materials like paper, manila folders, poster board, cereal boxes, super glue, hot glue, epoxy resin, wood glue, spray varnish, spray paint, primer... do you have an airbrush? Of so, hell yeah! I don't have an airbrush so I just don't use airbrushes. I use brushes. Anyway, you can build some really rad stuff out of cardboard once you've gained a little bit of experience. You can still design them in 3d, if you know how to use a 3D program, that's a real help. Because it's really hard to model things from just references that you find online, because Sketchfab is the only place where you can rotate them, and you don't have full freedom. Anyway, it's a very satisfying emotion, I guess you can call it, whenever you build a scratch built model out of nothing but your bare hands, materials that you find lying around, and you wind up with an X-Wing Fighter that looks freaking awesome. It's completely from scratch, and completely a product of yourself. Excluding the fact that an X-Wing wasn't designed by me. But still, it has my own touches. The one I'm in the middle of building right now is going to have space shuttle delivery. Livery is the decorations on any type of aircraft. My X-Wing will be black on the bottom, white on the top, black on the nose, gray on the nose tip, black surrounding the cockpit, is going to be named the Enterprise! It's going to be rad. And it already is halfway rad, because it's about one quarter of the way finished. Ok, I was just wondering. Since you obviously have an overdose of talent, I was just curious as to whether or not you've ever considered modeling from scratch. Scratch building is what they call it. Not kit bashing - scratch building. After you scratch build a really perfect model, and coated it with shiny aluminum and inscribed edge panels into that aluminum, and just give it all the detail that's possible to give to something on such a scale, with such limited resources, but looking so awesome, the feeling you get is... I can't lie, I've done a lot of drugs in my day. But that was 20 something years ago. And I'll tell you right now, some of those things are really hard to let go of because of the great feeling they provide. But, the feeling you get after scratch building a perfect model rivals the feeling of hydrocodone or oxycontin or morphine sulfate. Yes, I had a drug problem once, but that's ancient history. I was surprised at how easy it was to stop, after having been an addict for about 10 years. Sure, it was a struggle, but I didn't have to go to rehab. I kicked it all by myself with no help from anybody. I was really proud of myself. Now I'm clean and sober. Oh. Except for all my prescriptions. Did I mention that I'm as crazy as a loon? That I've been in the booby hatch twice? That I have permanent insomnia? That I have to take antipsychotics just to sleep? That I have to take Adderall to focus? That I have to take Klonopin for panic attacks? That I have to take Escitalopram or Lexapro for depression? God, I'm just a hot mess. But scratch building models out of cardboard is totally therapeutic. I don't know if I'll ever get my sleep back, but as long as I've got sleep meds, I'm not worried. If you haven't tried scratch building a model, I highly recommend it. I can't speak for those who create models by 3D printing them and then painting them and then putting so much work into them making them look exactly like movie props, but the challenge is so much greater when doing it with cardboard. And I can imagine the satisfaction is also that much greater. Especially whenever you design the model from scratch. But, you have a great channel, I've enjoyed very much perusing it, and I'm about to go back to perusing it. Have a great day, week, month, year decade, and life. Stay away from the drugs! Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing. I have three laptops - one for displaying all kinds of references, one for playing movies, and another one I'm still trying to figure out. It's got Ubuntu installed on it, and I don't like that. It also has Windows 8, and I like that even less. The thing is, it has no Bluetooth driver for either OS, and after 6 hours of messing with the damn thing yesterday, apparently it's impossible to put bluetooth on this damn laptop!! I can't figure out the freaking Bluetooth drivers for that computer! I don't know what I'll use it for, it's a handy dandy little laptop, although the battery is completely dead. But plugged in, it works great. That is, if you consider Ubuntu great and having to go into a damn command prompt and type sudo before every damn thing you want it to do, and it usually coming back with an error code. Well, I'm just about fed up and ready to erase the damn hard drive on the thing and install Windows XP on it. That's always been my favorite Windows. My brother Matt tells me, don't do it Ash! Don't do it! Microsoft doesn't support Windows XP anymore! All of the drivers are taylor made and custom built for Windows 7 through 11! Windows XP will freak out! Well okay, maybe he's right. Maybe I'll just put Windows 10 on it. I hate windows 10, but at least I'm getting used to it. And I like it way better than Linux. Whoops, there I went and digressed again. I do that a lot, because everyone is my therapist. I'm pretty much cray cray, but you wouldn't know about it by looking at me. It's all in my head. And I will talk somebody's head off in any comment section, or person to person... hell. I talked my moms' boyfriend's ear off and it took me 10 minutes to figure out that he was itching to get out of the door and get in his truck and go home! See, I don't have a licensed therapist. I can't afford one. I don't have a job, because I can't hold one anymore. I'm pretty much fucked. I'm indigent, I'm a dysfunctional adult after 90% of my life being a functional adult, until insomnia, the permanent kind that never ever ever goes away, crash down onto me like a planet and then all these other disorders started cropping up like depersonalization, panic attacks, chronic anxiety, depression, PTSD from the dam insomnia - I spent two years awake if you can believe that, but it's true. I swear to God. This is when I was still trying to figure out what was happening to me. Anyway, enough about me! Sorry, I used you as my therapist. I do that to everybody. Back to you. This is your channel. Great models, I'm a great admirer of anyone who can produce an object that you can hold in your hands and turn around and look at and it looks great and satisfying. And this is what you do. I only suggest... I only suggest that you try your hand at scratch building. That is, using poster board, manilla folders, paper, cardboard, glue, scissors and X-acto knives, and if you know any 3D software programs, those are invaluable for sketching out your 3D model so that you can build a 3D sketch of it that you can hold in your hands. Not the final model, but it's 3D sketch, if you can apply the term sketch to a 3D model made out of cardboard. These things are invaluable for getting the gist of what exactly you're building, and the correct proportions of it. Then, after you've built your model with all your materials and your glue and you:ve painted it and you've made it your own, whether it's an original model or something from a movie... Man. The feeling you get from holding that model in your hands and turning it around and looking at it and admiring all of the detail, from the aluminum coating, the cardboard, the paint, to everything! Well, that feeling is comparable to one of the best drugs I've ever done, and yeah, I used to do a lot of drugs. About 20 years ago. Some really really good ones, I'm telling you. You get a feeling very similar to one of the best highs you've ever had from one of the best drugs you've ever taken. Now. Don't do drugs! Don't be a doofus like I was! I was just merely suggesting, or asking actually, if you've ever tried your hand at scratch building. Specifically, with cardboard. It's an experience that you'll never forget, because it makes you feel so good whenever you're done. Anyway, back to perusing your RU-vid page. I'm having a great time looking at all the things you build. Stay groovy copacetic! Oh yeah, o your movies monitor,, if you have one, play Frozen over and over and over, at least one hundred and fifty thousand gillion gazillion and 6/5ths times while you're scratch building.
