Ingredients:
2 pieces of Tuna steaks ( about 200-250 g / 7 - 8.80 oz each )
100 ml / 1/2 cups white wine
~ 50 ml / 1/4 cups olive oil
1 medium onion
4-5 cloves of garlic
3 small ripe tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon pepper powder ( sweet or spicy...as you like )
1 small bond of parsley
1 thick slice of lemon
4-5 fresh leaves of basil
salt, pepper and chili flakes for taste
Prepare the tuna steaks by wiping them on both sides with paper napkins to remove the excess of water.
Then, sprinkle them on both sides with salt and pepper.
Prepare a non stick pan.
Add ~ 50 ml / 1/4 cups olive oil in it and set a medium to high heat.
After the oil has heated, add the tuna steaks and fry them for about 1 minute on each side ( they should turn from red to white ).
Remove them from the pan and turn the heat to the lowest.
Place the steaks on a plate and cover them with some aluminium foil or another plate to keep them warm.
Chop the onion and the garlic and add them on the pan where you fried the tuna steaks.
Increase a little bit the heat ( lower to medium )
Fry them for a few minutes, until the onion becomes golden.
Add the pepper powder and stir.
Add the wine and let it simmer until half of it evaporates.
Meanwhile, finely dice the tomatoes.
After almost half of the wine has evaporated add the tomato paste and stir.
Add the dices tomatoes into the pan and turn the heat to low again.
Let them simmer until they turn into a thick sauce.
Add the basil leaves, salt, pepper, chili flakes for taste.
After the sauce has thickened, add the tuna steaks and cook them in the sauce 1 minute more on each side.
In the end, sprinkle fresh parsley on the top.
Turn off the heat, take the pan off the stove, put the steaks on plates and serve.
