How to make Ubisoft connect work on windows 8.1 | entry point not found error

This video will show how to prevent Ubisoft connect from auto updating.
The newer versions don't work on win 8.1 despite them claiming support will continue until 2024.
Older versions still work in 2023, its just a matter of stopping the auto update while staying signed in.
As of 30/12/2023, the latest version.txt is 10984

Thank you so much for this! It took me a while to figure out you need to enter the most recent version no. of Ubisoft Connect into your version.txt file. As of today (15 May 2024) this is 11052. Otherwise Ubisoft Connect will go straight to update. So always check the most recent version (see post with link by the OP below). My system is Windows 8.1, by the way.

It works if you keep updating the version file. Does anybody know why for example AC2, AC Brotherhood won't start at all?

You need to make sure the version number in the txt file is the latest one. This version number changes with each uplay update.

I checked today. Most recent version no. is now 11082. I deleted and reinstalled version 10852, replaced/altered the versions.txt, and it's working again.

@@nikolatims8916 Either on the website that the OP provided in one of his previous comments and that lists all the previous versions, or you let the update run and check what the update writes into versions.txt. The latter is what I did a couple of days ago.
