These turned out perfect. I have never been successful making bao any other way. Instead of a homemade char siu 'pork' I soaked some dried shiitake mushrooms and glazed with char siu sauce in the oven for 20 minutes. They are perfect!!! I'm in love. I have been missing these baos since I went vegan, but I'm very proud to say I can make them myself now. Thank you so much!!!
