How to make a cheap ventilation fan for Van using Solar Powered USB Gaming Fans.
So in the last video we talked about the vehicle inspection and what we needed to do and how we needed to build the van in order to be able to pass.
You would have noticed me unboxing a couple of items in preparation for this video project.
So today I'm going to build an extractor fan system for the side window, this is going to be a basic build.
The idea is I'm going to get a bit of plywood, build a little frame, insert the two USB fans inside and run off the solar USB battery.

I realise this I an old video, I am planning on making something very similar to this but my plan is to hold the fans in place with magnets that way I can turn them round depending if I want to pull air in or push it out. I would very much like some additional info on that power bank, seems very very good.

😂 yeh old in terms of RU-vid timeline.. Oh the magnets sound like such a good idea. You should send me an update once done.

The power bank was something like this? GOHHME Solar Mobile Battery, 63,200 mAh Large Capacity I ordered from Amazon. Next time I make these videos will def add the links in description 😂 This was like my first vids for RU-vid

Question: could you do one fan drawing hot air out and one fan blowing cool air in? What would be optimal?
@JapanSnowPhotographer
@JapanSnowPhotographer 19 дней назад
Ah yeh true. Could totally do that. Because these fans just flip around. So really could have one facing the opposite direction. For airflow inside my van I have a usb fan that can run for 8 hours on 1 charge and that is a lifesaver sleeping in the heat here. Japan is record breaking high temps just now but fortunately in the summers I’m at the beach so leave my widows open and have a nice breeze in the evenings

Daft question alert here. Firstly, this helps reduce humidity, is this correct? I'm thinking of making something similar but thinking into the space of my skylight. But then, I could make something which doesn't take up the whole of the skylight's square, just a rectangle with two on, say, leaving the side open. (Imagine a square 36cm by 36cm, my board like yours would be 36cm by 14cm for instance). Window would have to be open, of course, but then does that defeat the point, would I have to 'seal' that whole 36cm by 36cm cm to be effective at sucking humidity out the van? Do you see what I mean? As in, there would be humidity in the outside air of varying levels that you then may want to stop getting in, that's why it might defeat the point.

I’m not sure if it helps humidity? That would be better to use an AC unit. I seen EcoFlow actually make a portable AC unit which looks awesome! As far as humidity yeh it’s a tough one. Where I live in Southern Japan it gets very hot and humid in the summers and I know many people have that EcoFlow AC which definitely helps deal with the heat and humidity but for me I just sleep with my doors open and have a wee usb fan blowing all night. During the winter this ventilation fan definitely helps with condensation and airflow though 🤙

@pinkbsl7972 4 месяца назад
@@JapanSnowPhotographer Ah, sorry, I used the wrong term, yes, I meant condensation, I suppose I was meaning moisture in the air generally and reducing that! Thank you for your response. Glad to hear it helps condensation which is what I want! In my initial message swap all the words 'humidity' for condensation and then it'll make sense!
@JapanSnowPhotographer

to keep the inside cool,would you bring air in or blow air out. gonna do the same with an ceiling fan for my Van,thx
@JapanSnowPhotographer
@JapanSnowPhotographer Год назад
Where I live in the summer it gets to mid 30 degrees so pretty hot. I blow the air in for circulation and use a cold wet face towel near the fan and feels cool. In the winter when I cook inside the van I blow the air out. I just made a simple build but probably way better things
@ronsedlak4019
@ronsedlak4019 11 месяцев назад
How do you keep the air from getting in when fans are not on? How do you keep the rain out? Usually on vents there is protection against these things.
@JapanSnowPhotographer
@JapanSnowPhotographer 11 месяцев назад
Hey 🤙 yeh I just built this as a temporary fan system for if I cook inside the van during winter or sleep at night in summer. I don’t have this installed all the time. It just slots inside my window frame when I want to use. In Japan I have built everything in my van so it’s easy to take off when I have to do the vehicle inspection. So I haven’t used when it’s been raining but yeh I also thought about that I need to make some sort of cover
