I don't agree, this inexpensive waffle maker has no sensors to indicate when the waffles are ready, thus they are ready when they have cooked long enough. Opening the unit does NOT stop heating, because there is no on/off switch operated by the lid. The green light means, as you say, the pre-set temperature has been reached, but this means the thermostat has reached the high temperature and turned off the heating elements, the appliance will get no hotter, and thus the waffle maker is ready to go. With the elements off (green light lit) the iron cools down until the thermostat turns on the heating elements again (green light off); this cycling is common for any thermostat controlled appliance. Thus, nothing about the green light indicates doneness of the waffle, but if you have used the temperature cycling, that is very repeatable, to figure out when your waffle is done, without understanding what is meant by the green light, then more power to you.

It's a must with this mix. However, I found Milk is optional. You can substitute the Milk with Water, or I found Even Fruit Juice, which makes some neat tasting waffles!

What if u don't have eggs can u just use milk

I don't know with the Bisquick mix I used. Some mixes you only need water. Those are very convenient. I like the taste of the ones that require the eggs and milk.
