Very pretty! I've never made wax melts but I was thinking about making some to give as gifts along with my homemade soaps but I had a quick question. What causes the little holes/air bubbles in the top once you've unmolded them? What a wonderful video!
These can be caused for multiple reasons, which also vary depending on whether it is happening with the soap or the melts. If you are experiencing this with the melts it can be that air is getting trapped in the wax during the melting and adding fragrance stage so please be sure to stir gently. It is also worth noting not to move the poured product at all whilst it is curing and to pour gently. If you are asking in regards to soap, it is very common for soap to froth and has a bubbly finish on the top. This is why we advise lightly spraying the top surface with rubbing alcohol spray as this will remove the bubbles and provide a smooth surface.
Hello! Thank you for this video! I have tried using mica powder and when I tested it today and put it on a burner it unfortunately all sank to the bottom! I am just practicing as I eventually want to sell my own but can you tell me what I might be doing wrong! Thank you! X
some says mica powders are not good when mixed it directly to the wax.. it can be used as colorant on top.. im also wondering why others used it.. i want to start candle business..
The Mica powder will never fully dissolve and therefore once the melt has fully melted and starts to evaporate there will be some amount of mica left behind which will easily clean from the burner.
Hi i am just researching wax melts as i am wanting to make my own as i love wax melts, and in time would love to gift to family and friends and maybe even start a small business, very excited at the moment Can you add just mica powder to your wax? Or do you also have to use a dye, or is it simply just preference? I am guessing you can experiment and see what works for you? Thank you so much for these tutorials, helping me learn and understand how to create these wonderful little delights Kind regards Sarah
Hello Sarah - That’s great that you want to start making wax melts, we love them too! We find that using dye and mica powder together works better. Thank you for you kind words :)
@@CosyOwl thank you so much for replying so quickly, that is great,i will also add dye to my first order from you, also, did you use all of the wax that you melted,or was there some left over in the end? Sorry for another question 🙂
QUESTION: What is the point of putting shiny glittery mica in soy wax melts if when you put in the the warmer if the mica just sinks to the bottom of the bowl and does nothing? tia :)
This is a common symptom of using too much mica powder. As mica is a solid matter and not a pigmented material like wax dyes it is prone to clumping together and sinking, however if used in the right quantity, once the wax is melted it creates a beautiful shimmery effect
When I add mica powder to my soy wax for candle melts it doesn't melt in swirls it just settles on the bottom of my candle melt burner almost like it separates from the wax why is this please anyone know??
This can be a result of using too much mica powder as you really only need a very small amount. We advise you however not to use mica in candles. As this is a solid, this can clog up the wick creating extreme mushrooming which can pose a fire risk!
