I came here because my cigarette ltr would not turn off. I used that fuse as a piggy back for my amp+subs and it ended up draining my battery. for weeks i’ve been trying to figure it out and it’s just as simple as moving fuse to the correct position. I'd heard of this but no one really made it as clear and concise as you have. I tended to just charge my phone in the car on the way to work and had been idling in the parking lot before I got into work because the power was shut off but now I do not need to. Thank you.

Very handy tip i’m an audio and tech installer so use this trick a lot to power hardwired dashcams

Fantastic tip! Only took 10 minutes on my UK 2018 Golf R and now I can leave the 4G Router in the back of my car turned on and keep it charged even if I don’t use my car for a day or two. Thanks!

Great tip. Thanks. This works on a US 2018 Sportwagen 4Motion for the 3 - 12V outlets. My USB outlet does not stay on in either fuse position. It stays on until a door is opened or the alarm is set. It operates the same in either fuse position.

Confirmed to work on VW Touran 2017 (Touran Mk2 aka. Typ 5T). Not surprise because it is basically a 7-seat Golf Mk7. Before this video I thought that it is a configuration setting and a diagnostic tool is needed to change the behavior. But it is really an old-school hardware-controlled thing. ❤❤❤ Now finally (after three summers already) I can keep snacks and medicines refrigerated in the trunk while we are having a lunch break on a summer trip!

Thank you, I was thinking that I had to do custom cabling to give power all the time and it was so simple I did it while waiting in the car, now my gadgets are charging and I don't have to have engine on. Thank you! Btw, it's Jetta 2019, and it worked.

Thanks for the tip! Confirmed to work on my '23 Tiguan SE. (1) The USB-C ports up front remain powered up with the ignition off. (2) The wireless charging pad is not powered up with the ignition off--I guess it powers through the infotainment system. Also there's a note in the owner's manual, seems they really don't want you doing this: "Note the installation position, factory-standard fuse location as shown in the illustration."

Thanks for the heads up!!! This configuration was already used in my 2017 ŠKODA Superb 206TSI 4x4 (MQB Platform), however my 2018 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition (MQB Platform) did not have the 12v socket "always on"... But it is now... Thanks mate!!!

I got a 2024 jetta and I just did this and it worked I'm also putting sou.ds in my.jetta.and was looking for a.12v ignition and I used the bottom plug in after I switched the fuse I wired my line output convertor to it to turn on my amps ehn I push start and that to worked so win win for me thanks dude I been tryna figure out this fuse box all day

I did this to my Scirocco, also added 2x solar panels to the rear boot plastic, for my dashcams, thursday im doing a lot of vcp,obd eleven,carista tweeking, and adding a voltmeter/usb quick charge instead on my front 12v socket., all during storm Dennis,

yo, this is super helpful for being able to use one of those solar battery maintainers. friend is too dumb to figure out what is killing their battery each morning (im 99% sure its the hvac resister or their seat control). instead of fixing it ill try this lol

this was in the manual of both my 06 Jetta TDI and my 14 Passat TDI nice tip. there is also one on the winter wiper settings too.

How do you do the mk6 golf tdi? The cigarette lighter fuse is position 42 but there isn't a half position to move the fuse up or down.

I have a 2020 Tiguan and can confirm it has the same fuse setup. I need 30 power for my dashcam to work when the ignition is off. Do you know if a dashcam can drain all the battery in a day or two (if not driven) on 30 power from your experience?

I always look for a constant power fuse port when hard wiring a dashcam, but I always use an in-line voltage monitor set to 11.8vdc.

Works on a UK 2016 GTD. but access is via the glove box. I run my dash cam off it. Great video buddy.

This works on my 2024 VW GTI. Move fuse F52 downwards about 1/4 of an inch and the 12 volt outlet between the front seats is always on regardless if car is running or not.

All videos I've seen show this fuse panel, I don't have that panel/ability to change where the fuse plug slightly in like you and other videos show. What about older cars that don't have all these little computers in them, what do we do to do keep the sig lighter always on? Thanks in advance!

There may be some exceptions, but generally American made companies keep their cigarette lighters energized all the time. Non-American made ones tend to switch it on and off with accessory mode. I find the American method better. There are many applications where you want to have a cigarette lighter powered continuously. Of course, the best solution would be to allow the owner of the car to configure the cigarette lighter how they wish. No, that would make too many customers happy.

Little late to the party but thank you for this. Just picked up a 2018 Touran and want to plug in a trickle charger while it's not in use. Looking at the manual, it looks like exactly the same fuse board.

Don't have this issue with my 97 Golf but I'm going to see if it's possible in my dad's MK4. It's a pain having to have the key on to charge things.

My window working just STOP ..i check the fuse ....cable middle of the doors and motor window all are good, but In this video i see this FUSE 443 937 Indonesia 12V is this one something work with windows or does have another problem with relay...? I wonder... Is the fuse panel similar in a C5 A6? My parents have a bad habit leaving 12V adapters plugged in. Would be great to tie the outlets to ignition rather than battery.

looked at you tube re fusebox of 1998-2003 sienna, and the outlets appear to be on same fuse as other circuits. will i have to disconnect and run a hotwire? can you look up a diagram for 2002 sienna?

Would the fuse 38 location which is the towing hitch power be a good option for using two add-a-fuse? I have a blackboxmycar I want running off of two fuses to recharge it faster. I would assume the tow hitch power is only on while the car is powered on.

Doesn't work on VW Caddy 2021 (Ford Tourneo Connect 2022)... the fuse slot is the same length like in the video, but when switch the fuse to another contact, nothing happened. I took voltmeter and there is no 12V even after start ignition ON. Why they change it, I don't understand!
