It won't pull up my printer in computer and I enabled the USB connection! Ugh

I accidentally updated the software so now the machine reports a cartridge maintenance error. Can you help me crack the ink cartridge software?

Is there anyway to be aware of when ink is running low? Or do you have to just be aware of ink image quality slowly deteriorating?
