I wanted to try making more natural looking sea glass since the tumbler was sitting empty and I think most of it came out looking pretty real.
Thanks for watching!

There’s something to be said about the natural process and how salt water and glass react over time to reduce the soda ash in the glass that makes the glass opaque and shows those little air gaps…basically in the ocean, the water and tumbling is turning glass back into sand…pretty amazing if you think about the entire journey. A tiny piece could have been a rum bottle on a pirate ship!

I’ve done this before using different blue and green wine bottles. It turned out great and I used some of the pieces in silver jewelry designs. I always list it as ‘Recycled Wine Bottles’ and would never ever try to pass it off as beach glass. Yours turned out very nice, love the big chunks.

i once had a friend who made sea glass in an electric cement mixer. he then sold it in bulk to land scapers, this a cool project when you run out of rocks to tumble

The fun is in collecting it! Great video though for those who have a tumbler😊

As someone who lives in the mountains, thanks you for this. I've found some river glass around my area from the 1900s industrial period,it's never enough to do anything with. I don't even like the beach environment, driving 8hrs to get to a beach is a nightmare in itself. Lol.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I wanted to try making windchimes from glass. I have your same tumbler, so will fill it today. Thank you very much!

Great video! I wonder what type of tumbler you used? So many out there and this seems bigger than the average. Thx!

Love this video - I have a collection of broken glass I found on the beach - not beach glass yet - does the gravel have to be quartz and secondly - some of the pieces have painting on them - do you know if this process will remove it? Again great information. Appreciate it.

Thanks for the video. Do yo have recommendations on a brand of tumbler? You mentioned that glass is hard on the tumbler so I assume it would be good to have a model that provides replacement parts.

Good video. I was surprised by the results after such a short tumble. Did the glass do any damage to your tumbler barrel?
@markh9825
Where did you get the screen at? Thank you for the knowledge and video.😃

I could see myself enjoying this because they look so pretty but what would you do with them afterwards? My grandmother had a cottage on the Chesapeake Bay and we would go down there and she would put all her found pieces of glass in a glass Tumblr. Several of them actually. Someone in the comments mentioned making wind chimes out of them. I love the idea, but wind chimes get on my nerves.

I've been watching your older vids but not this old, LOL. It popped on my suggested, though, and it sounded fun. Tumbling is what I'm doing mostly right now and I'm going to tumble some of my pottery shards in the near future. Only making pottery for, coming up on, 8 years so I have a formidable pile of work that is not worthy of selling. LOL Why not tumble it? Right? Maybe I'll video the process for giggles.

Assuming your near Eastern WA, try looking for an old city dump. Make sure it's from the early 1900's. Ask around small towns that have been around. I have one I visit for really old glass jars, dark blues and greens and brown. Most the trash will be gone, but the glass will still be around. Good Luck
