I have watched several people show how to make the conversion from sand to k1. What I have not seen is a ponds water after using the filter. If it works please show your pond afterwards.
I bought a cheap intex combo 1500 gallon size. Put k1 media in it. I filled it to the top. I put a UV light in the water fall. So far the water is clearing up very nicely. Very easy to backwash. I did try a sponge in the sand filter with media balls. The sponges did collect dirt. But didn’t back flush. So I deleted them for all K1. So far it’s working very well.
would a hayward with k1 media work as a filter for a swimming pool? i’m thinking about similar to a natural pool? if yes, would you elavorate for us in detail here in comment section or in a new video. will the water be clear like normal pool?
Im looking to build a 20k gal concrete pond, wanted to use a pool sand filter. Wasnt sure if it would plug up with bacterial growth, or if it would be OK.
Dear sir vers Nice job. But K1 and beadfilters are reverse flow filters They will work very poorly if you dont inverse the pump to de return gate , and the return pipe to the pump gate on your 6 way valve.
By reverse, do you mean threaded inlet on filter becomes the outlet line (to pond and to backwash) and outlet line becomes inlet line for incoming water?
did you have to reverse the flow of water. i was told that a bead filter, flow has to be in reverse of that in a sand filter because media floats ( water comes out of the lateral instead of going into the laterals for return of water back to pond)
For all that stuff you already have hooked up your pond still looks like that spent all this time and money for the other pumps when you could have got a nice pond pump
