In my old punky heavy blues band, I ran a standard Tele through a Marshall JMP-1 preamp into an old Vox AC50 -head going out of a 1960 cab w stock T75 speakers. It just sounded bad ass…defined, tight and aggressive AND pretty heavy, so I recorded our album with that sound. I usually use humbucker guitars, but that was one of the best tones I’ve achieved and just fit like a glove in that particular context. Teles definitely deliver the punch and gnarly tones.
Wow, Nice mix. I'd love to hear the result. Is it online? I agree. I had a gibson SG but I found that I needed a bryte tone, and thats why I land on a Tele. And I do love that punchy sounds you can get on heavy genres.
The main problem with dealing metal tone is fact about lazniess of people to creat thier onw sound. Most of people try to recreat tone of guitaris form popular bands. Amazing video, i like that type of content when someone try to do metal tone( or other type of tone) with thier own idea.
Thank you for the comment. I’m always on the pursuit of finding my one tone. I love bands that have a specific sound, or guitar players with a characteristic tone.
If you don't already have a beloved classic single-coil Tele and just want the looks with heavy sound, an HH model is maybe cheaper than another amp and/or additional pedals and gives you punch but also twang when you use the coil split.
Yes. And there are others. I think the best Tele for me is one with humbuckers with split coil. Even though I love the heavy sound of the single coil. I had a gibson but my taste goes towards the tele. Thank you for the comment!
@@jorge_albuquerque I just thought it is the easiest solution. 😊 There are indeed many "heavy" Tele players out there, Jim Root was already mentioned but for example Foo Fighter's Chris Shiflett.
About the models, well I'd love to have them all. But not aving that money I still have at least to try them all. So I can choose the one it fits me better. But I just love the tone. Heavy or not. Yes there are a lot of Tele players in every genres. Thats other reason I love this guitar. You can easilly play it all.
I love my Tele too! I play in an agitrock band and need versatile sounds from clean, grunch to heavy. The amp runs at full throttle and I do the rest with the volume control! I really like your video! Could you tell me which songs you play? That would be super nice! Best regards!
Hi. Thank for the feedback. I usually also like to play from clean to heavy sounds. And love the tele for that. The songs I’m playing in the video are: Stockholm Syndrome from MUSE, Schism from Tool and My Own Summer from DEFTONES. Do you have songs online?
With teles or strats I've taken to rolling the tone knob back to around 6 or 7...takes away the harsh brightness and tames the attack to feel more like a humbucker. Still a single coil but it helps.
Great video! I'm thinking of buying that parallel distortion pedal, love the sound you get from it! Just one question... How do you deal with the singlecoil hum? My tele makes a lot of noise, specially whith high gain pedals...
Hi! Its a great pedal to use with a TELE 💪🏼 I don’t have hum on my guitar. But usually is because of the shielding. I put my guitar on a Luthier so he changed the single coil and all the inside cables and that solves the hum problem.
Nice playing, great sound and well presented! I have 3 teles, 2 of which come with humbuckers of sorts! Jonny Greenwood and Rod Jones set me on my tele adventures long ago 😅
What??!!! Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead? 😅 Amazing! Now you have to tell the Story 😅 I just have this tele, so I have to find ways to diversify tones. And thanks. It means a lot to have some feedback 🙏🏼
@@jorge_albuquerque not that I have their guitars, just the look of them from those 2 guitarists inspired my love of them! My first being a squier then I got a Jon 5 mexican Tele and recently the gold foil blonde Tele released last year. You're very welcome. keep up the vids, you come across very naturally as a presenter, kudos!
oh. For some moments I though it was his guitar. I know the Jon 5 one. A friend of my band has a mexican one and it sounds great. I just love Fender Telecaster, single coil or humbuckers. I'm hoping to get another one in the near future. will see. Glad to know! I will keep posting.
A telecaster has a very aggressive tone without any mods and even clean so that aggressive tone can translate to heavy really fast , the tele has a unique response to high gain
I got no caster 51 pus and 11's strings on mine and its heavy af. Only problem is thé noise, but pulling down the volume when not playing solve it. Also for parallel distorsion, there is more simple option like signal blender pedals (EHX or old blood noise endeavors).
yes i totally choose those two other Guitars (LESPAUL/PRS) over telecaster any day of the century on Drop A but yeah i do have appreciation for the good black Deluxe Twin buckers telecaster
Well I do miss a Les Paul too. And I do like the PRS for some songs. If I could I would have it all. But this one its so versatile. That Deluxe its a good one too.
I have a cheap guitar and a pedal that, interestingly, cost the same as the guitar... when I heard you play, I immediately realized that your 'girl' was special (expensive), especially when paired with your pedal (also expensive, not to mention the amplifiers), which makes everything more distinctive, special and professional. I love hearing a good rock sound on the guitar. By the way, what's your guitar's name?
In truth this guitar was not that expensive, I just got a good deal in second hand. There are some business oportunities out there. About the rest of the gear I understand it's allways an investment. But almost all of my gear is in second hand. I just call my guitar "Tell" (as if telling stories) ahaha
@@jorge_albuquerque, laughing! Based on what you told me, the name "Melody" came to mind... it represents the essence of music and the stories it tells through its strings...But for an electric guitar, it's a very cute name... Ahahah!
Tele doesn't lend itself well to this sound. Not to say it cant be distorted, just dont reckon the tone suits it. Sure you can tune a toyota and get a bit more power of it, but it's still not a porsche.
Hi. Of course I agree. But for sure it can sound heavy. And its one of the most versatile guitars I know. There are many guitarists that can pull some great heavy tones from it. No offence for the other guitars that I also like. Thanks for the comment!
I’m sorry if there are more videos talking about the same things. I’ll keep trying to give new and fresh perspectives from the same things. Is there any content you would be interested in?
I am sorry BUT Telecaster IS NOT for Heavy Metal at all . Keep the Respect for this model and durty it with METAL . You have a lot of others kind of Guitars for that kind of music noisy . Cheers . Say this to Keith Richards and you will hear something very ugly and hard words coming from his mouth .
Not designed for heavy metal. But you should hear mine with a Seymour Invader Humbucker in the neck. My middle pickup position sounds like a wall with metal distorion on. And my Tele looks more metal than his. Got a full contact bridge installed. It is what you make it.
