man- iv been intimidated making cross platform avatars for about 2 years now and no videos i found could make it sound any less intimidating your a life saver and just uploaded my first cross platform avi! thank you!
Thank you SO much! I've been trying for a while now to upload a avatar to be compatible with both pc and quest, I've seen so many videos and yours the only one that helped me
thank you so much! This has been a life saver though it did for a moment make my texture inverted on the darker colors. Thankfully that was fixed by setting the texture from "default" to "normal"
THIS TUTORIAL HELPED SO MUCH TYSM JOHNIE- AAA IT TOOK ME LIKE 3 HOURS TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT KEPT MAKING A SEPARATE QUEST ONLY VERSION AND NOW I FINALLY GOT IT YIPPIEEEEE
I made an avatar for a client and didnt know they wanted to use their character exclusively for VR headset, so I published it for PC only. your tutorial realy helped me setting the avatar up for vr in just 10 minutes. thank you so much
6:04 so we aint gonna talk about the deactivate menu that prob like a good 50% of people pressed then wouldn't be able to upload the character and not know how to undo this. (including myself)
I have a problem. In VRChat the photo and description is correct... but the model isn't. Also on the platforms it is "only mobile". Is there any way to fix this?
idk how r u doing this so your avatar is under 10mb... every time i try to convert something the size is too big :/ that's the main reason i looked for this video
can you make a tutorial on fixing glossy/shiny avatars? i did this but for some reason the quest version looks better than the PC one. My shaders are gray'ed out and I cant interact with them
Nah fr. I've been doing quest avis for a couple years before taking a break and there's been multiple avatars that needed to be taken to blinder to and have a bunch of assets deleted to make it quest compatible. I miss the days of questies being uncommon and most new people being desktop users.
Ok so, I tried to upload an avatar for the cross platform. I did all the steps you did, and I'm at the upload page. I'm not sure if the cross platform button is supposed to be greyed out. Idk if anyone else is having this issue, but I have this every time I convert majority of my avatars for cross platform. Am I doing something wrong? Please come back to me when you can.
I was pleased to discover your tutorial but ... I always get the error "Specified Cast Is Not valid" on all materials using Poiyomi ... When I search on the internet the only solutions are code lines that have nothing to do with VRChat. What can I do?
Honestly I had the VRC Convert plugin but never used the convert to android function. I literally scrapped 3 projects after several SDK errors preventing me from uploading a Quest Compatible version and this video solved my several long hours worth of issues in 7 minutes. I want to die.
@@nelladeraj NELLLA!!! I forgot the name of it but I have the Unity files, I stopped using it because it was causing some clipping and toggle issues with the clothes but I can send it to you lol
Any advice for when the textures are SUUUUPER blurry and disocloured? Also theres textures that shouldnt be there (this model is made in vroid so it gave it eyebrows out of nowhere (so now it has two sets or eyebrows. One thats grey and the ones i textured right onro the skin layer) and the glasses have gone completly grey rather then see through. Any help? I cant fjnd the shader thing like you said around 4:25 in
im having a slight issue, my avatar is quest compatable and when i test the quest toggles in vrc they all work, but when i play on the pc version and toggle stuff none of the changes i make are shown to quest uesers around me. its as if the toggles are desynced or something
This didn't work for me even though I followed everything correctly... It still shows as only PC compatible. I really wish this could work because I really like the avatar... But ah well
I am struggling with Unity right now, and I wish I could say this works, but I dunno if it's my own incompetance or whatever but all it did was upload my avatar, make it look worse and upload it as PC only :(
1. theres been an updated version of questtools. 2. converting my avi to Quest's Vrchat/Toon Lit seems to have broken all of her textures. What can I do to fix this?
Okay I need help I cannot find a way to move over my avatar after making a duplicate. There are so many arrows I’m extremely confused is there a way you can help me privately 😭
I have a question, the PC resolution would show on his high res form when someone's using a pc device or another vrset that is not quest? Or is it gotta look like the toon and low res form like quest?
if your Quest converted avatar has the same blueprint ID as your uploaded avatar, then yes :) it will not override your current avatar that is PC-only but basically just adds a version for Quest - if you follow this tutorial where they just duplicate the non-converted one, the blueprint ID is already set up! once uploaded, your avatar thumbnail should have both the "PC/QUEST" blue and green circles lit up these avatars are mostly very optimized and are made so Quest users are able to see your avatar, i have a lot of friends who are Quest-only, so this tutorial is very helpful if you want them to see your avatar as it is
When I press on android a thing a peer is telling me that it’s gonna take a bit, so I press OK, but then it disappears in. It never comes back, and I still can’t upload to quest because it never changed from Windows to android and it won’t it refuses to, but I’ve done everything correctly. So I don’t know what to do
My copy removed the eyes how do I give it eyes again I tried to add a texture for the eyes again but won’t work it’s dark and just not what it’s supposed to be
my upload keeps failing, it says "an attempt was made to transition a task to a final state when it had already completed" and i have no idea how to fix it
When i use this to upload my should be pc quest avi, the avi is only quest. Then when i look at my pc avi in unity is says its built for android. Any help?
What about toggles? Will people see my assets I have on my avatar? Will my PC avatar's look be changed at all by doing this or is the quest version ONLY visible to quest users and has no effect on the PC avatar's look? I understand this is probably what fallbacks are for but this is so stupid I don't want to butcher my avatar just for quest users Also my avatar ends up being 10.94MB and I cant upload anything over 10mb. How do I lower the size even more?
What does vrc quest tools do? SURPRISINGLY MY AVATAR WAS ABOUT 33 MB AND IT DIED DOWN TO 12 FROM ME USING THIS? It still looked decent and not blurry? I was shocked 😮 New subscriber!
Great tutorial! Does this method make it so that the toggles on both the PC and Quest version of the Avatar work in sync? meaning if I remove a hat from the quest version the PC people will see the hat removed as well? Right now I'm kind of struggling with that issue when I upload a PC + Quest compatible avi. The toggles just don't work the same and if I remove the hat on Quest, the PC person still sees the hat on.
does anyone know how to get the Phys bones panel to open without getting the message after converting the pc avi? I have an avi I got that already had a converted version but cant figure out anywhere how to open the panel so that I can actually upload it ;-;
ok im having trouble with this every time I try to upload it will the do the blue circle for a little bit then stop and make a sound idk what to do plz help
So the “convert avatar for quest” button is greyed out and I can’t press it. I’ve followed all the steps up to that point. What do I do? Edit: Nvm, for those having this problem, you have to add the VRCAvatar descriptor to the model
Hey I have a tiny problem, after the conversion with tools to the Quest version, my eyes are just blank white, something broke :/ Any idea how to make it work? I am really helpless with unity :D
The eye textures probably have some transparent part over the actual eye texture itself. Usually that happens when it’s a texture like that on the VRChat shaders because that shader doesn’t support transparency.
I really need help with this part. When I go to build settings to switch to the Android platform, there is no Android module loaded. Can you please help me out with this section, I've been trying to find a way how to fix it but there's no answer. Please and thank you, it will really help me out a lot.
if it says no module then you have to download it, the download link should be right under or above where it says no module on the switch to android thing
So if I wanted to reduce poly count I would have to go back into Blender right? If that's the case then I don't wanna have to start over and create my prop toggles, animations, and facial expressions from scratch again. So if my model has a lot of polygons (say 200K+), 512x512 is good enough for Quest users? It'll still be automatically blocked regardless but I at least want them to see what my model is in the first place...
Its strange. I had no issues before with uploading cross platform avatars, but now after the update I do. I did everything I could to make it work, but nothing. I even followed this tutorial to a T. Maybe it doesn't like that I removed some physbones that pc one had and that the quest one does not. I am unsure. This video was uploaded a year ago, and only a month or two ago did I have this issue. When I do upload the Quest version I will see an error robot (which is expected if its just Quest since I'm on PC) So then I'll reupload the avatar to PC and be able to see it again, but it will say its still just a PC only avatar with an impostor. (The impostor is what the quest users can see. It looks like a poor render from the PS2 era.) (Oh and just so everyone is curious who uses poiyomi like myself, poi had an update and you can now use its textures for PCQuest) I was looking around to find a script that could combine multiple physbones into one making Unity recognize it as one thing instead of multiple allowing more bones to be on Quest. I have seen several models have this script, but I never knew what it was. (Due to myself missing this script I had to delete them in Unity in the past). Now I'm trying to find it.
