WOW, WOW, freaking WOW Adam, what a life changer, my GOD, thank you, thank you, thank you. Setting up all my sites and WOW, I'm jumping up and down like a kid at a candy store, you know how much time you've saved me? If you were anywhere close to me I would take you out to lunch, thanks. I sincerely appreciate all your tips, they are no nonsense, straight to the point, from a real person experiencing the same problems we all do and you tell it like it is, I appreciate that and it's a breath of fresh air. THANK YOU.
Thank you! A million times, thank you! I have recently started managing more than one WP site and have spent far too much time comparing management tools, until I saw your channel... and now my life is happier! This video certainly didn't feel like it was 40 minutes long. You were insightful and informative and all the information was easy to understand. I will be watching more of your videos on my journey with WP. Thank you! :)
You did it again Adam. There's always an workflow aproach that makes your videos unique and special. You don't resume to the wordpress technical side. You teach wordpress integration in our lifes.
I very rarely post a comment, but this time I must do it because you really saved my life! Thank you, Adam! I really appreciate your tutorials and I wish you all the best! I supported your work by clicking on your referral links to buy a couple of stuff from your reviews but I don't think it is enough to thank you for all the useful information you shared. Grazie mille! :)
Hey thank you for taking the time to write a comment. It really is encouraging because making videos and dealing with some people, not most people, but some people can be a little challenging. So when someone says that anything that I did had a positive impact for them,. that really makes my day.
This is so wonderful Adam, I just discovered something new today that will save me a lot of time managing my clients sites. Thank you so much. Despite the length of your videos, I always feel very comfortable watching them to the end, because of the so much value they deliver. I am grateful for you help.
Wow, What a fantastic tutorial video. You explain it plain for everyone to fully understand. Unfortunately, too many youtubers assume that their viewers know specific stuff, so they often skip key sections that we need! Thanks again!
ADAM THERE ARE A LOT OF THANK YOU TO YOU HERE ALREADY AND TO EACH OF THOSE THANK U’S, IM ADDING A +1 BIG THANK YOU FOR A FANTASTIC, HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO TUTORIAL. MAY YOU RECEIVE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS DAILY . I APPRECIATE! I JUST SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL
Yes it boils down to if you prefer to have everything on a platform that you own or to have access to your sites on some platform that you don't own and someone else controls.
Mmm that's true, i remember you saying in another video you prefer control and privacy where possible ;) I do need to consider that aspect too actually... hope you had a great Christmas!
Hi. I have now switched from "ManageWP" to "MainWP" for all my Clients (Long Process ...). But ManageWP works much faster and has many more opportunities that my customers will also appreciate. Thanks for a great RU-vid-Channel. Greetings from a faithful follower from Norway :)
Hi! Do you still use mainWP? What are the "more opportunities that your customers appreciate" you're talking about for ManageWP? Please let me know. Why did you switch to MainWP if ManageWP was better?
Thank you. I really want to encourage everyone to use these 3 free tools: MainWP, iThemes Security, and Updrafts. With that, you will 100% covered. It's free insurance. It actually took me longer to help clean up that hack then it did to make this video :-)
Nice Easy To Understand Your Wordpress Tutorials Really Appreciate What You Help Others Thanks For Your Time To Making Really Good Good Wordpress Video Tutorial
Hi! Sometimes while i watch your videos only one thought comes up my mind: "Amazing!" I did install MainWP and i want to use it for some sites that i'm creating. In this video you said in the beginning that you would explain the configuration of the "clean & lock" feature. Are you going to do this, or do you have already? I think i would like to see some short settings overview from the free features that come with MainWP. I know this video is a little bit older, but i'm new to this and i think your videos have really good content and you explain things very well. Altough my native language is not english, i have no problems to understand what you are showing in the videos. Thank you
Hey Adam, I was able to actually get as far as you did in your video on my own, just following the help and such. I haven't messed around with it for a while, but as I recall, I was trying to set up backwpup at the time, and I remember there were so many settings and screens and tabs it was really confusing. I'll take a look at updraftplus for mainwp, maybe it's easier to configure. In other words, getting the mainwp dashboard and child site added seemed like the easy part. The hard part was actually configuring the addons.
+WPCrafter.com 40:40 "This video is already way longer than I want": Your videos are absolutely not too long - not even the very long ones - because every minute is really informative and helpful. "too long" videos are those where people waffle and spend 5 minutes on something that hardly justifies 1 minute. You don't do that! Also I can play them at double speed and still follow you (slowing down and skipping back as necessary) - not many posters are so clear.
Ive used ManageWP by orion for a year -couldnt be happier! free version is fully packed, i used mainWP as well but ManageWP is awesome w great support! :)
Hi, great video, love your work. Great asset to the WordPress world. I'm just wondering at this current time in 2018 moving into 2019. Do you still use MainWP or have you started using something else? I am stuck between deciding on MainWP or InfinteWP. I really love that InfiniteWP is it's own CMS and not WordPress, and their client reporting seems beautiful compared to MainWP client reports. But MainWP offers some great Pros. Lifetime one-off purchase. Ability to apply plugin settings to multiple websites so you don't need to configure each one multiple times via the keymaker addon you mention (I don't think InfiniteWP can do this)? Great to hear where you're at coming into 2019 and if you still believe MainWP is the best option. Of course, I know it comes down to preferences and it's subjective to each users requirements. Thanks again.
Thanks for the great video Adam! :) I have been meaning to do something like this for a while now as I have, as you say, sites that I sort of forget about, and those are the most "dangerous". I prefer a self-hosted solution for this type of functionality. Call me paranoid, but I really do not care for the fact that all of my site login credentials are on someone else's server as it is with other solutions. Sure, I have them all now on my specific WP site for MainWP, but its on MY hosting account! :)
Hello WPCrafter. Thanks! Watched the vid, got the plugin-in great stuff. One thing I don't understand tho, not sure if I missed it. Would you recommend installing a security plugin for the 'empty WP site' Main WP sits on? Alongside all your actual websites I have already installed security for. Seems like if someone hacks that they got all your content? Thanks
Thanks for showing this, I have several websites to manage and I can do it through my root whm cpanel but this seems way easier, especially with the updates. And, it works even if some of them are on different servers.
Another great video Adam, thank you. I have found a slight conflict in using Managed WP Hosting (Flywheel for example) in that to then provide monthly maintenance reports to clients becomes tricky. Most of the things you would need plugins for.. Caching, Security and Backups etc (and manage the updates via MainWP and the MainWP client reports add on etc) is done by, and may cause conflict with, the managed hosting.. who don't currently offer monthly white label reports. Does that make any sense? Any work arounds or best practice etc, please let me know :) I feel like I'm duplicating alot of stuff just to provide the monthly client reports (though, that are invaluable in my opinion for selling the maintenance plans and gaining recurring revenue etc)... Sorry they was a long rant LOL..
Adam, on a dedicated sub-domain (e.g., dashboard.showthedemo.com) should we have any other plugins installed along with MainWP? for security? anti-spam? -Thanks for this great content!
Great video... Can you control user access on the child sites? I am setting up a portal that will have between 500-700 sites. Ideally I would like to set permission levels i.e. disable the ability for the client to add their own plugins, edit HTML, etc. Basically they will have access to add more users with various permission levels, but will not have access to modify the site beyond the existing active plugins. Thanks again for a great tutorial.
Thanks adam - liked it. I hop one can use it for subdomains too :) I'd request you to make one on multisite ( i know its relatively far complex, but iin some scenarios like a school with say 4-5 departments, you'd need to have a main site and then departments as child sites) vs subdomains. Thank you so much
Good afternoon Adam. I have 1 site set up already. By using these plugins will i still have to add the other plugins or will they be added thanks just found your channel
Woo, I'm half way through the video, and it's a little overwhelming, but being able to manage four sites, and by next year five sites, would be a really good time saver.
If I can't do the subdomain with SiteGround because it might cost more for that feature, do you think it will be okay to install WPMain one of my main sites, or would you recommend not. Sorry if you addressed that in your video? I'm going rewatch it tomorrow.
IMO you need to first create incremental or full backups prior to updates to avoid disasters as some plugins or updates of ore or themes can be dramatic...
2 Questions for ya: what if all of the sites I want to manage already have Updrafts Plus installed? Also do you get a notification if an update fails and does it tell you which web site the update failed on? Your stuff is great, thank you for taking the time!!
Do you know any way to make this work for Elementor pages Adam? Have a big 90 site project and we have a bunch of elementor built pages we keep needing to manually update, it's a huge headache. If I could set them up with dynamic content and apply it to all the pages that would be way easier.
There are lots of smart ways to use Elementor. For example they have global modules where you updated in one location and it updates across the website.
@@WPCrafter Thanks Adam, was looking for something that would work exactly like Elementor's global feature but across multiple websites, not only within one website.
How does MainWP compare to ManageWP? I am trying to decide if I want to use a management dashboard and if so which one? Thanks, enjoyed your informative content.
ManageWP these days is owned by GoDaddy, just read the reviews on FB and in the WP repository ;) Every since they took over issues started to begin. MainWP has very good reviews.
Thank Adam for this awesome tutorial. But what I would like to know if someone manages different company hosting, can he add those sites in mainWP dashboard?
if I have a website in inmotion Hosting and other websites for an example in Siteground, Can I manage those websites in creating a subdomain in one hosting company and add other websites?
Hi Adam, thank you for the video. You mention something about hiding the mainwp installation (subdomain). However, I don't think you showed us how. I will appreciate it if you showed us how to do this. Thanks
Hi Adam. Can I edit the UpdraftPlus plugin settings of a child site through the MainWP dashboard? Or would I have to log in to the child site to edit the settings? I want to change my cloud storage provider. Thanks!
Adam, do you have iThemes Security plugin installed and running on your dashboard site? One other question - what do you do about themes in your Dashboard site? I see the options to update the default installed themes, but no options to delete. Do I even need themes if everything is done via the back end?
Hi Adam. I followed your instruction in the video to install MainWP Dashboard on it's own WP install on a subdomain. How would I go about adding iThemes Security and UpdraftPlus plug-ins on the dashboard site? Do I add the dashboard site as a child site in MainWP Dashboard? Or should you not have a dashboard and child plugin running on the same WP install? Thanks!
Hi Mike. When I try to install a plugin on the dashboard site, I get prompted to select which site to install the plugin on. The dashboard site doesn't appear on the list of available sites (I only have one "child" site added to the dashboard so far). That's why I was asking if I have to add the dashboard site as a "child" site on the dashboard. Sorry, I may not be using the correct terms when I describe the problem.
It sounds like you're using the sites administration area. What you actually want to do is install the plugin on the dashboard site itself. i.e. pretend you didn't have main wp installed and you just wanted to add a plugin to your site. You'd go to the plugins menu - But the plugins menu might be hidden, there's a setting for that somewhere in there to hide menus to keep your dashboard site clean or whatever. If you can't find it you can always just go to www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/plugin-install.php when you're logged in, and it will take you to the plugin install page.
Really great plugin... Ita just the perfect almighty thing what i want.. thank you so much for that.. some time i just wondering how you know what we need and u deliver perfect thing to us for free
Is there any way to put your primary Subdomain as the login page directly? Because I don't like the thing that the Wordpress Page still there. Please let us know if this can be posible. Thank You!
I am using Siteground. After installing the domain I got the same message as you did (17:17) but when I clicked on proceed got and 404 error (page can not be found). I am stack, can you help? Great videos!
Hi ! I have over 30 websites for Tourism Agency and now i want to convert all of these in Wordpress. But they are now online with old and another CMS, how to work offline with these and then to upload all new websites online ? Thank you
Hey John, you know this is odd this is the third time I've read about this issue in the comments section here the. I have been spending the last three hours responding to comments, I was just behind because of the holidays, and this seems to be a common thing I am hearing. Let me see if I can find a solution and maybe make a video on it for everyone.
Would you suggest installing a security plugin like iTheme Security on the main dashboard site? I'm worried if the main site got hacked, wouldn't it give access to all my child sites?
Ok something is driving me nuts with MainWP. How do you change the email address that the Trusted Updates email notification comes from? I went through the trouble of setting up an email address in my cPanel, and configured an SMTP plugin in the dashboard site (and tested it). I changed the administrator user email to the newly created email address on the dashboard site domain, but the notifications are still coming from my private email address. What gives? Save my sanity!
Hey Adam, I am trying to use Main WP on local by flywheel local host... but there is a problem with a OpenSSL.cng file. I am trying to fix it but i cant find the solution. Can you look at it? :) Thanks!
That is strange. You know in local by flywheel there is a way to add an SSL certificate to a website. There also is a support form for local by flywheel.
I changed my wp-admin and wp-login url names yesterday after weeks of alerts for brute force efforts. I hardened a lot of other things, as well, but MainWP can't connect with my website if the login url has been renamed, right?
Hi Adam. You stated that you have installed MainWp on a local install that you created using Local By Flywheel. I have attempted to do the same but am getting an error stating that the OpenSSL.cnf file is not configured properly and will not be able to connect to child sites. Did you ever run into this issue? I am not able to locate this file.
What are we supposed to do with the frontend of the "dashboard" website? Right now my dashboard[dot]url[dot]com is showing as a generic wordpress page that I don't want anybody seeing
Yeah, great.... ManageWP works like a charm. MainWP gives "invalid request" on adding the first website... Can't find what i'm doing wrong. Staying whit ManageWP for now..
