Did you guys struggle at the start with the fear factor of looping out? That's what I'm experiencing, my body reflexively doesn't let me kick the bike away and I just jolt my weight forward. Any mental tips regarding that? Thanks a lot guys.

Yes, it can definitely be scary at first. But bailing off the back is going to be essential. Like many tricks in bmx, learning to bail out of a trick is almost just as important as committing. Once you learn to bail, the fear of the trick largely goes away, because you know what to expect, and you know how to protect yourself when things go wrong. I would recommend rolling slowly and jumping off the back of the bike, or just putting your feet on the ground to the sides of your pedals to start (don’t even do the manual). Then I would try looping out or flipping a manual on purpose, that way you are really prepared to bail out of it. Once you are comfortable with that, you can start practicing the manual. Just always be prepared to bail! The mental aspect is so tough. I’ve been there with a few tricks. If you can’t get yourself to loop out on purpose, you could try doing it into grass, bark chips, or anything soft. Make sure to wear a helmet, and any other pads that might give you more confidence, and make you feel safer. The safer you feel, the more likely you are to commit. You will have to take it onto a hard surface eventually though, as the trick is really tough in grass and bark chips. Other than that, try to hype yourself up to commit to looping out. Whether it’s with music, or friends, the more adrenaline you get going the more likely you are to commit. Hope that helps

I have been trying to learn manuals for years and still cannot for the life of me get it going for more then a few feet before i loop out or drop it.

Your bikes geometry could possibly make it tough. Also, I don’t know if this applies to you but sometimes people try to over correct too aggressively. So when they feel like they are looping out they lean really far forward quickly. If that sounds like you then you could focus on doing more subtle corrections

@@JosiahOchoa thanks for the reply I think you might be right about over correcting I'll keep trying as for the bike it's an s&m stricker v2 with a 20inch top tube and I am 5'6" not sure if that makes any difference or not
