While watching your video, I realized I do everything you said not to do. Did the right way last night, looks better. I love foams, easy to sleep in, fast comb out in the morning and off I go. Thank you so much, I learned more from you than from all the women I ever met in my life. Sincerely, I learned a ton from this video. You're talented.

Can I just put a huge THANK YOU right here?!? Seriously, your video was SO helpful! I have very thick hair that has been a pain all my life. I love curls but I could never seem to get the hang of it no matter what method I've tried (and believe me, I think I've literally tried everything). I've been experiencing with foam rollers again, but for the life of me I just couldn't get it to work. I have been googling for a month straight, desperate to find an instructional video that not only shows me the step-by-step process, but also explains what to do, what not to do, and that also breaks down the various types of curls you can get so that I know how to roll for the look I want. Your video is the godsend I've needed! You also have a great personality that made it very fun and enjoyable to watch. So again: THANK YOU!!! :)

I used to sit on the bed and watch my grandmother roll her hair. She did it fast and with out a mirror! Try as I might I could never put curlers in my hair it would tangle not curl she would just laugh and take them out for me. My grandmother passed away in July. My mom gave me her rollers (the hard plastic kind). I have watched this video & The brush out one over and over. today I will finally get curls not tangles...I hope

Hi, Thank you so much for not just this video but all your videos, I had never found a style of dressing that I felt good in but I always loved the vintage/ rockabilly style. I started experimenting with the make up a few months ago but had no idea how to attempt the hair. A lot of tutorials are really hard to follow but you break it down so so well, I now feel confident enough to buy my first set of foam rollers and give it ago. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow and you really inspire me to experiment and have fun with my look, I just turned 30 I finally feel I know where I want to be. Please please keep doing what your doing your very talented at it 😊

The memories this brings back! My mom used to roll her hair almost every night, in hard plastic rollers. I have no idea how she slept in them. I’ve recently started using foam rollers again and I follow your tips. I have good results almost every time. Call me old school but I think these foam rollers work better than pillow rollers or flexirods. I don’t have enough hair to try the big satin tube the people on TikTok are using so I can’t speak to that method. I will say that dividing and curling your hair this way gets easier the more you do it. Muscle memory kicks in and you can do it half asleep. 😂

I swear by my foam rollers {haven't used them in forever since I chopped off my locks} and love how great a curl it can give me. Can't wait to see the brush out. I have to say I learned some new techniques on how to properly do it, but I learned that I was doing a LOT of it correct. Especially the damp hair...learned that one from experience. LOL!

Oooh, nice tips and tricks. Here's another one: if you want your wet set to last a little bit longer, or just get some body back into your curls, you can do dry pin curls in the same setting pattern you used the night before as a wet set. Like, if you want to have the same style two days in a row (sometimes second day sets aren't all that fun, so why not change it up, hmmm?). Excellent as always!

THANK YOU!! I'm so glad that I have a really good foam roller tutorial to refer to! I enjoy the curl I get from foam rollers but, I always roll all willeh nilleh and it never has any structure. Now, the next time I do it, I have some idea of a pattern to give me a more vintage style. Again, thank you!

I've just started to experiment with vintage style and this video was such a help! I tried a few rollers while i was sewing and I was delighted with the result! I need some bigger rollers and i can't wait to do the full head. The best thing for me was watching how you slid one finger under the wrapped hair to smooth the ends in. It works so well with the squashy foam, brilliant! Curls drop out of my hair so quickly its ridiculous I can't wait to see if this will last the full day :D Thank you!

They are similar though the pin curls hold up much better. Also pin curls give you more flexibility in curl size and placement. I tend to use rollers more because it's so much quicker. :D

I absolutely love all your videos! I have learned so much and you are so charming to watch! I had a horrendous midi cut done (poor communicating with the hairdresser. it's bad. I should almost share a picture!) So I wanted to try a foam set since I struggled so so bad with the pin curls. well I am happy to report that I managed to roll too tightly, too small a roller, and probably whatever else I could do wrong!! Lol. I gave myself a poodle set- it was hilarious. I will do it again this week and follow your tips more closely ❤❤❤

I tried out the wet set on Friday evening, hoping to use it for some victory rolls on Saturday. The wet-set results were pretty good; the curls weren't insanely tight as before, smoother curls with less tangling. So the wet set itself was a success. The victory rolls... I find mine turned out very fuzzy (I have no pomade, but I used a de-frizzing product) and I guess I was too worried about brushing out all my teasing, so that may have affected it too. I ended up doing a curly faux-bob look. ;)

I’d say the closer you secure the curlers to your scalp the less pain you have (less tugging on baby hairs and less bulk. I got an elasticized hair turban I put over my rollers and then I tie securely with a silk or nylon head scarf. It doesn’t fall off and I get way better sleep. I also switched out my plastic parts In my curlers for pieces of 14 gauge flexible wire and at the end I bend them over (think a homemade pillow roller) this combined with the turban and head scarf has been my winning combo

The midi is great for that kind of style, it can be difficult to translate for modern stylists. I have a video on that cut that might make it a little easier for you to communicate: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RFvrLCu8sx8.html

This was a great video! So thorough and informative. My hair is shoulder length and naturally very curly. I could just wash it and let it air dry for pretty curls. But I like the look of more “controlled” curls. I am thinking about trying a wet set with 1/2” foam rollers for a change. Do you think that’s a good plan?

We're having a bad snow storm up here on the east coast of Canada , so I'm all snuggled in here , enjoying myself , re-watching some of your video's :) I'm at the part where you are showing how the foam rollers will look if you roll your hair too tight . If you take those foams off the rollers and soak them well in a sink with water ( squeeze them in the water ) , they will come back to their original shape , or at least mine do :)

hummm...that's a good question. I don't have issues with sleeping in them, I don't know if it's the way I sleep or not. I'm a stomach sleeper and also a back sleeper. This is my suggestion. :D Try using pin curls for the sides of your hair (unless you're a back sleeper...then do them in the back), they are much easier to sleep in. If even the pin curl clips bother you go ahead and pin them with bobby pins (you'll get a little kinking but it's a trade off). I hope that helps a little bit.

Yes, for me I need to use pomade/wax to keep down the frizz for my victory rolls plus a good hairspray! :D

I just undid my dubi wrap to roller curl my hair with foam rollers. I don't wet my hair with water spritz though. But I did apply a curl mousse to moisturize my hair before putting in the soft rollers. I do roller curl my hair to add volume and fluff to my hair then I will take out the rollers and wrap my hair again in a dubi wrap.

I've used your tutorial to do my first wet set. However, I do have to roll when my hair is soaking wet, otherwise it won't stay! I've got very fine hair, so it'll go from soaking to dry (on rollers) in a few hours. I use Lottabody setting lotion. The curls will stay in for 3 or 4 days, depending on the weather, so that's pretty good I think! Thanks for teaching me how to do a wet set :-)

Love it Jen! I just realized I wasn't subbed to you through Mama G! Oh the shame!!! ok I fixed that. Great video love! I'm roller setting as we speak. Too tired for pincurls tonight. I was up in my kitchen like a crazy woman making a chocolate cake...yes...I did the video so enjoy. Now, I'm gonna finish squishing my rollers into a bow...um..ok maybe not lol. Great job sweetie!
