About two years ago I changed my technique completely and started using economy picking.
In the first video on these series about economy picking, I want to show you one of the core techniques for mastering this technique: micro movements.
Economy picking is a combination of alternate picking and sweep picking. There's an amount of preparation that you have to do in order to use economy picking. This is what we are going to do with micro-movements.

Great playing in the intro. I had boatloads of trouble doing strict alternate picking. Economy picking always felt more natural to me, especially descending. So I just went with it. Now I use both, depending on what is easiest. I tried the exercise and it is a great introduction to the technique imo. Licks that you can 'loop' are a very useful for focused practice.

Hey same fr me except i made the habit of decending alternate except when having to start a lower string with a down stroke in some cases . Its weird when u become aware of what yr actually doing but spending time on these things is really helpfull . Well for me it is anyway

Its the decending economy i have to work on . Iv been really targeting that in every way i can think of ie 2 note 3, 4 . Per string etc. I didnt realise i aready use evonomy a lot acending untill after a few yrs . Good lesson
