Lewis Hamilton because he has now equalled the record for the most world championships, and still wants to win after he's won the title. For me, one of the most committed drivers ever.
It's the last F1 Fridays episode of 2020! How did you like this video series and what would you love to see for the 2021 season? It's been a lot of fun!!!
My driver of the year is Sergio Perez, even with missing two races in a short season with an extremely competitive midfield, he tops the midfield battle even beating Alex Albon comfortably while getting the absolute maximum out of the car and any race situation. His tire management is unparalleled and his consistency is on the same level as Verstappen and Hamilton...And to think this man doesn't have a seat for next season is just criminal!
@@MartinGonzalez-ki8kn the only driver capable of beating Ham is Verstappen, perhaps Leclerc but I trust Max more. Not even Rosberg could beat Lewis in a completely fair environment.
Top 5 and not a mention of Perez!? He missed two race because of COVID-19 and another two because of engine failures, and still managed to get P4 in the championship. Perez is criminally underrated.
My driver of the year is Checo, because he’s currently 4th in the drivers championship losing 2 carrers due to Covid and still managing to be there is amazing
@@giuseppemaggio5894 no the racing point is not far supperior Maybe it is over the whole season slightly better but performances from perez like in Bahrain,Germany ,turkey ,second round in Austria, Sahkir ,imola or partimao proved that he is a great driver.Yet he was not rewarded for a great race a lot of the times
Checo has been excellent this season. But it's easy to forget that he sits in a car that is almost as good as the Redbull. If he had a different teammate than stroll I'm sure it would look massively different. But still, solid season from Checo, super consistent and deserve to be in F1 next season for sure.
My driver of the year is Sergio Perez. He has just shown how much he deserves to be in Formula 1, and considering that he doesn’t have a seat for next year I think it’s really impressive.
Driver of the year: Perez: immense season, last to first drive to a win, under immense pressure with losing his seat unfairly from a team he bailed. And he can STILL smile.
Checo Perez is the best for me. He hadn't a great season start, even missing 2 races because of Covid-19. But he overcame all of that, getting better every race and, despite the pressure of not having a seat for 2021, he was able to make his best season of his carreer. He also had a great drive at the second race at Bahrein, going from P18 to get the win. Absolutely amazing!
And still he had some bad luck while running at high positions like engine failure at P3 in Bahrain, he lost another podium in Imola because of stupid strategy decision by his team. Racing Point could have been much closer to Red Bull, Stroll had also quite a lot of bad luck in second half. Puncture in Mugello from P3, front wing damage that cost him the lead in Turkey and getting hit by others few times..
Its true that Perez is doing great, but let's not forget that the Racing Point car is a lot better than both Renault and Ferrari. It even got Stroll a pole position.
Driver of the year: Sergio Perez. He has been giving top tier peformance consistently esp in Sakhir and the fact that he may not get a seat next year?! I have to give it to him. Checoooo
He would be my nr 5 I think. You need to take in the entire year, not just last few races and he is not better than the top 4 Nico mentioned in my opinion.
What is so special about Perez. It took him ten years to take his first GP victory, and has been on the podium a total of ten times in those ten years. But there were more that don't need to be mentioned as far as I am concerned!!
Of course he thinks Checo is in the top 5 but he didn't say it to ensure that people comment on the video, like you and me, and have more reactions, but it's obvious that Checo deserves top 3 at least.
@@obmalnehw5377 did you even watch f1 this season, Perez is hands down in the top 5. He could have gotten 4 podiums in a row (If they wouldn't have pitted him during the SC period and if he his engine didn't blow in bahrain)
Ok now I understand why you didn’t say Checo Pérez, it’s because you don’t want to make advertisement for him to take Red Bull, that’s why he mentions Hulkenberg (0 wins and 0 podiums) and he misses Checo. He is supporting another German
@@h2rv he mentioned 9 drivers so if a driver that ends P4 with a win and beats other drivers mentioned doesn’t deserves a place there, it should be something wrong. Even redbull signed him and team managers rated as 5th best driver of the season
@@eldulcerocojopreciosmasbaj730 okay now bottas was second in the championship and won races and he's racing for mercedes ... Do you think bottas is top 5?
Checo Perez: exists. Nico Rosberg: Who? Perez for me has been very constant his whole carrer and this year against the odds and without a seat for next year finally won his first race inside the team he has most raced for (force india/racing point).
i could deffinatly give him driver of the second half of the season, but lets not forget that he often was outcualified and outraced by stroll in the first half.
@@TheRacoonGhost Well... before Russia basically they were almost the same Qualifying: Perez 5 - 2 Stroll Race: Perez 3 - 4 Stroll And Stroll missed only 1 race and still got 11th on the drivers standings while Checo made it to the 4th
My top driver is Checo Perez. He's been consistent and has come 4th in the championship which is amazing! Also he went from being last to first at the Sakhir Grand Prix
For me it's clearly Checo. Every race ge finished this year, he was in the points, he won his first ever GP, from the last place, and it's sad that he still doesn't have a seat for next year.
@@th3b0untyhunter he would defo got a podium after being last in the last lap, that would be still an amazing drive. Yh he was lucky but you gotta be there if others aren’t like Mercedes
@@bjorns7579 without the multiple safety cars he wouldn't have likely even been in the points. He was just too far back to make up all that time AND battle through the pack.
Driver of the season has to be Sergio “Checo” Perez because the way he has handle to fact that he is losing his seat on the grid at the end of the season has been impeccable and how he has fought to prove his worth to try and secure a new seat is amazing to watch. I think the way he has utilised the max performance out of the car with the podium at the Sahkir Grand Prix topping it off. Think he’s a well deserved driver of the season and will be unfortunately to see him go. Love to content Niko, keep up the hard work and get back on Sky Sports 😂
Sergio Perez, I feel so bad for this guy, my favorite driver. Surely, doesn't deserve to leave. Him and Riccardo are carrying their teams in constructors
@@timmetjecoronel9545 yeah but if RP hadn´t sabotaged his races he could´ve got at least 2 more podiums. And many of Strolls DNF´s were because he messed up.
I wouldn't say that. He was performing really average until the point he was fired. After that he is started to pick up the pace and turkey was his first really good race.
@@frrofficialchannel6142 his talent isn't something questionable and I do think he is really good, but you can't say somebody was driver of the year when in the major part he performed really average
Sergio Perez for me. Although Hamilton was easily the best and is arguably the greatest driver ever, Perez surpassed all expectations and put racing point in the top 3.
My driver of the year is checo for sure, scored points in every race so far this season except for one, but his win proved himself this season and he deserves a seat
Perez, he delivered this year. Even when they said with Pink Merc comments, without Perez they wouldn't have ended in present constructors. He had been delivering consistently irrespective of team and car. He deserved with that Sakhir Performance from going last to First.
Perez, yes definately.. you could probably add a good few more to that list too. Its a sad state of affairs that we only think someone is good when they have a good car. If the whole grid was driving the same car, the top 5 drivers on the current grid would likely all be within a single tenth. Impossible to prove but Russells recent Merc performance points towards that being the likely status quo..
@@paulbenjamin6597 here comes another peasant underrating driver because of the car.... smh. The fact that he is forth in a third best car (arguable but not 2nd best car definitely.) shows that he is up there.
@@paulbenjamin6597 Perez missed two races and they mest him up in so many races and he had that engine failure in Bahrain and he still managed to get to fourth in the championship, he’s clearly the fourth best and for sures better than Ricardo
@@whiffywave92144 Lance also had 4 dnfs and all of them weren't his fault. He was unlucky. And RP effed up his strategy in spa. So it goes both ways. And checo is expected to get higher points but the age advantage is still with lance. I hope he improves because after a year or two the above argument wont be stand
Sergio Perez is so highly underrated and overshadowed by other drivers in terms of exposure and chances to show his worth in good cars. When he did have a good car, like this year... his performance really shines through. I am a Max fan but have watched formula 1 for many many years and appreciate any good driver!
@@simoni0750 Yes this is an amazing outcome! I am very curious how he will perform next to Max in a good car, he is so good on tires and pushing the limits, so we'll be in for a treat I think! That is, if the Red Bull will be good from the start for once.
Checo. Scored points in every race except Bahrain and the ones where he had COVID, and got a few podiums and a win. Not as good as Nico Rosberg though.
I would go with Perez. He has shown how well he can push the car. Was pretty sad to see his engine burn during a podium run but he has been performing really well.
Sergio Perez,he's was the most consistent driver of the season and with all the presure he have through the year and keep improving his results, simply amazing.
Bruh thats why he's giving everything Any driver would try to impress teams and if he didnt get any seat well He had a good last season where he proofed him self so yea Good luck checo
The driver of the year: Checo Didn't race two races this season, 4 really bad strategies, 2 DNF, and still got to be the fourth in the driver standings and with a great performance, some luck and strategy got a win... outqualifying his teammate in the standing 4 - 11. And don't forget he did this with the news that he will not have a seat next year even though he had a contract signed.
Driver of The Year: Sergio Pérez. I think he have a great skill level, he (Finally) won a race (Sakhir) and he ends the year on the high. One of the best drivers who never won a World Championship.
I would never put him as one of the best drivers to not touch a WDC. He had a mediocre first half, then went up towards the end. Years prior he was just a midfield driver who got podiums like any other midfield driver, and his teammate, Hulkenberg, was and still is a joke of a driver. It's not like Perez is in the levels of Juan Pablo Montoya.
My driver of the year has been Carlos Sainz as he was criminally underrated for the entire of this season scoring points in nearly every race and a major reason mclaren are fighting for p3 in the championship
Perez has had a super strong season. He was away for 2 races, and still manages to be p4 in championship! he beat stroll by a lot. He even got a victory! Sad to se this can be his last race.
Perez, his race at Sahkir displayed his driver to spirit to never give up. He’s improved so much during his career. I hope he finds a seat next year. I would love to see more🤞
Thanks Nico, so cool for a driver to give so much back to F1 fans. We get so little of real substance from the big broadcasters which I've never really understood. Same detail free headline driven content every week. Thanks.
My driver of the year has to be Pierre Gasly. He had such a difficult season last season (ending on a high with that amazing podium in Brazil), but has bounced right back this season and shown incredible performances as he outdrives his midfield car. No matter what driver or team you support - his win in Italy was absolutely incredible and I'm sure it will go down as an unforgettable moment in F1 history!
Perez! Coming back from COVID, winning the penultimate GP, outclassing his teammate all year and doing all of this knowing he may not have a seat in 2021.
My one has to be Sergio Perez. He managed to get 4th in the driver’s standings, with a midfield car, got on the podium, and won his first race, from last place, after he spun out. That is really impressive. It’s just really sad that no one signed a contract with him. I know that he is not the nicest driver but definitely one of the best.
Verstappen driver of the year. Had consistent great results with really only getting out by mistakes made by others drivers. He has almost always been in the top 3 which shows he has the pace maxing out the red bull car
Sergio Perez cause he showed what he is capable of knowing he doesn't have a seat for 2021, We will soon her a breaking news on sergio replacing albon :))
Sergio Perez was the top driver in this season in my opinion, because he was the most consistent, and ended up impressing everyone with a few podiums and even a win
