I remember Malcolm Gladwell saying that "Friends" could be playing on mute and you'd still be able to understand what's going on. That explains why so many people say that they learned English by watching "Friends".

Oh my gosh thats really interesting! I've never heard that before. It just goes to show, though, the amount of information transmitted through things other than dialogue in shows like these--which is why they're so good for learning languages!

Tantissimi consigli utili e preziosi. Nessun problema: mi diverto, gioco, mi appassiono... e imparo. Senza ansie ma con gioia. Grazie ancora. Pubblica altri video simili. Sei molto brava e chiara!

I'm so happy you like my video! I can use Google to auto-translate the comments so you are perfectly welcome to comment in Italian on any of my videos; maybe you will also help someone else who is learning Italian and can practice by reading them! Having fun learning languages is so important--we actually learning better when we are relaxed and comfortable. This is why I am super passionate about finding ways to learn languages that allow us to have fun and don't induce stress. Anyway, thank you so much for your comment. I will try hard to post more videos and make them as good as I can, I hope you will enjoy them! Good luck continuing your English learning journey~

Estou estudando inglês. Faz seis meses que comecei a estudar. Ultimamente estou entendendo bastante coisa. O segredo é não se preocupar com pequenos detalhes no começo do estudo. 🇧🇷

Warning: Don't let automatically translate this comment! Try to read it in English first! Wow! Good job for being here and immersing yourself in native-level content! When I get time, I will try to add English subtitles to my videos to help if you are using them to immerse. Don't forget you can also slow videos down on RU-vid if you need to! Also, I totally agree with you about the details! I am currently watching Korean dramas to learn Korean, and while I only understand about 15% of the dialogue, I understand around to 60% of what is happening in the drama. This is because I don't focus on the details of what they're saying, I just take what I can understand along with the video and try to get an idea of the bigger picture. If I was worried about the details, watching it wouldn't be fun for me and I wouldn't be able to immerse the way I am. So you're right! The details will come with time, at this stage the best thing you can do is just do your best to understand and try to have fun! Good luck with your English studies, and I hope to see you again on my channel! (Try to comment in English next time if you want! It's ok if it's wrong--this is a safe space! You can always put the Portuguese underneath it if you are worried I won't understand).

@@speaking_of_languages Sorry, I forgot to translate. I've been studying almost every day. Nowadays I understand about 40% of everything. I really liked your video. I managed to understand almost everything. I will always be following your channel.

I'm at the level where I can't exactly understand native level speech but if you wrote what you said I could 80% of the chance understand. Just cause my knowledge of words and grammar is pretty good but I still can't find the perfect way for listening practice.

Sounds like you just need to keep doing exactly what you are currently doing and give it a bit more time! It also might help you to do some more targeted practice by listening to things once at normal speed, then once again at a bit of a slower speed (you can slow videos down within the RU-vid player) where you also stop and look up a few words if you need to, then rewatching it for a third time at full speed to see how your comprehension has improve! This is a technique used all throughout the Innovative Language podcasts which I have used quite extensively to study multiple languages and I find it really useful, but you can do it by yourself just with RU-vid videos as well! It's definitely more of a targeted study practice though, not just casual immersion, so it really depends on how much time you have and how you prefer to learn. But I hope it can help you if you'd like to try it! Good luck with your language learning, and thank you for watching my video!

This video is an ad for Italki. The last thing needs for CI is a teacher or a conversation partner. There are millions of hours of CI on RU-vid. The worst idea is using content for native speakers. Study the articles of Stephen Krashen. You recommend useless things that contradict the CI theory. Please read CI theory

Hi! Thanks for watching my video and of course you're welcome to your own opinion! This video is based on my own personal experience and what has worked for me, and as you'll see I have linked Stephen Krashen's own video in the description for anyone who watches this and is interested in learning directly from him. I have learned Spanish to a B2/C1 level (not sure exactly as I haven't tested) pretty much exclusively through comprehensible input, and I am currently using the same method for Korean. Everything I have talked about in this video is something I actually do and it has all worked really well for me. If these things don't work for you, thats fine! I would just like to gently remind you though that I'll still take your feedback just as seriously if you say it politely, so perhaps consider phrasing it differently next time :)
