OVERNIGHT OATS MEAL PREP! A healthy, delicious recipe that has no added sugar. This overnight oats recipe is kid approved and great for breakfast, pre gym or post gym snack. We give you a base recipe and then our two favorite combinations, peanut butter and jelly overnight oats and chocolate banana overnight oats! YUM
JUST TO BE CLEAR
We are not trying to tell vegans or anyone who has dairy sensitivities to stop drinking almond milk.
We are speaking to people who DO NOT drink whole milk because they believe FAT is UNHEALTHY.
Vegans and people with allergies/sensitivities are drinking almond milk for a different reason than believing that there are "fewer calories" and "a lot less fat" than milk.
If you are drinking almond milk, look for a great brand - or you can even make your own and it will cost you MUCH less, and then you control what's in it! There will be no additives like carrageenan and Vitamin A Palmitate if it's homemade.

Ingredients are to make 1 SERVING:
Multiply by however many you’d like to make!
BASE RECIPE:
1/3 cup organic whole milk
1/4 cup oats
1 tsp chia seeds
feel free to add your own flare to this with different nuts, seeds and fruits
PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY RECIPE:
1/3 cup organic whole milk
1/4 cup oats
1 tsp chia seeds
50g strawberries
1 tbls natural peanut butter
CHOCOLATE BANANA RECIPE:
1/3 cup organic whole milk
1/4 cup oats
1 tsp chia seeds
50g banana (about 1/3 banana)
1 tsp cacao powder (NOT cocoa powder)

I've been loving putting a tablespoon of pure pumpkin puree in my overnight oats, a little stevia and pumpkin pie spice. Eating it cold in the morning tastes exactly like pumpkin pie!

I know when someone is on a stricter low carb diet, they go for unsweetened almond milk because it's really low carb, whereas milk has about 11 grams or so. Of course, if one is that strict, then they wouldn't be having oats or fruit anyway. But that's why so many recipes call for that, because it's a fluid that is low carb, and usually low fat.

Thank you guys so much! I am lactose intolerant and I would have never thought that almond milk could have any other ingridients than water and almonds. So right after I saw your video and i went and got an almond milk wihtout additives.

has anybody tried freeze dried milk and fruits to make a mix for camping, traveling or maybe just to stash in a desk drawer for a quick breakfast or snack? Think I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the video share.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are lactose intolerant. Sooo almond milk is a great alternative.

I feel as if Those portions are a tad small. am I imagining things here? What I have for breakfast normally is a half cup of oats a half cup of Greek yogurt 2 eggs and a cup of mixed berries. Is my portion size to large? I'm also fairly large at 190lbs 6 feet tall. (Was 240lbs)

Lovely! I have tried them and they are actually really good. Keep up the good work. However...the portions seem a little small for me, I don't know if it is because I'm used to eat a big breakfast (and I need to change that) or because I feel like I need more fuel after a full tapout xt session. Do you eat a jar of this along with something else? or...do you have any suggestions for snacks? I start my day early and waiting from 6am to my lunch (prepped in advance ;) ) feels kind of too long for me. I love having tea or coffee around 10am and I usually have biscuits with it but I'm trying to change that. Any suggestions? I appreciate it!

If you haven't already, scroll back a bunch of videos and watch our video about Macros. We will calculate yours for you in the comments section. That will help you get a better understanding of how much you should be eating in a day!

Hey! you did, actually. Thanks for that: "Hello, Your total calorie goal is 1800 cals per day, 150carbs 120protein 80fats" But I guess I'm lazy to count everything to make my meals fit into it. I have to switch certain things because many ingredients are not available where I live (no peanut butter, just peanuts). I guess I will keep eating variations of the meal preps in bigger portions, and eating peanuts and almonds with my tea for now (please don't tell me it's unhealthy), to see how that works. Thank you guys!

question for you guys: in relation to fat milk, what about real butter versus margerine butter? i've seen margerine without colouring additions and it looked grey, so i stick with solely real butter.. what is your idea on this?

I tried these last night/today with peanut butter and chocolate, though with soymilk since we are a dairy-free house. I definitely need a sweetener to be able to eat this in the mornings. What sweetener is the least bad? Honey? Something else?

That's awesome !! You can drink almond milk, we just wanted to call them out for not actually having a lot of protein. If you are lactose intolerant you can use almond milk. =)

Is there another option that might have more protein? Should I be making cashew milk? im not even sure what the difference is for homemade in terms of protein levels as compared to the store bought, i just know that there arent any preservatives and i can control the sweetness and flavors.

They look like they're simply rolled oats. I do that kind of meal prep too on a regular basis, and I use rolled oats, too. Quick cook will sort of vanish in a sludge overnight.

Hmmm, do you have a health food store nearby? There is cacao in all of our regular supermarkets in the organic aisle, not in the baking aisle. I don't know where you live, but around here, I've found cacao in all regular grocery stores, health food stores, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and even places like TJ Maxx!

Megha Abraham I've made overnight oats with both. I prefer rolled because of the consistency. I also like to use PB2 instead of peanut or almond butter for less calories.

The processing; steel is less processed than rolled or instant (instant being the most processed). Because of this, steel oats has a different -- toothier -- consistency.

This might be difficult to believe but I found your channel around 3 hours ago and binge-watched How to Meal Prep's almost all of 1 to 23 episodes. But this is the ridiculous part: it's 8am right now. You've got me hooked on this! Personally, the best part about your videos is not how informative your videos are, or how enjoyable they look - it's the length of the videos and how you manage to cram all the necessary info in around 5 to 8 minutes (at least most of them) without coming off as hurried or anything of that sort. Truly remarkable. I've seen loads of Weekly Meal Prep videos and they are usually longer. I'm a university student. I am not even experienced much in cooking but your videos have been enough helpful. You guys deserve more recognition. Love you both. Thank you. Don't stop. And never delete these videos from RU-vid because I might just show these videos to my kids one day

I've tried overnight oats recipes before, but find the chalky taste off-putting... Would it be all right if I were to microwave this for a few minutes, to cook it?

Hi Donna, we don't think these taste chalky! We tested a bunch of different versions, and we didn't like using yogurt, because it gave it a dry, weird texture. With the milk, they come out very smooth. When you made recipes before, what was the liquid? Have you tried milk? And as for heating it up, you can do whatever you'd like. We eat them cold, but we like them cold, so, whatever makes you happy.

Been lurking for a while. Enjoy your channel! I have a question about oatmeal, especially overnight oats. Do you determine nutrient information based on raw or cooked oats for these? Wouldn't heating them, in effect, "cook" them and change the calories, protein, etc?

I know cooking or reheating pasta changes the chemical compounds that then adjusts the calories and the affects it has on your body (i.e. cold pasta triggers your body to work harder than hot pasta to digest -- allowing for you to burn more calories from the digestive process). However, the variance is so minute, that it's not even worth noting. So, in short, NO; go with the nutrient information listed whether you eat them cooked, raw or otherwise.

These meal preps are toooo amazing! I'm a uni student so time for cooking isn't something we have time (or the energy for or in the mood) so keeping healthy can be so difficult. I commend how budget friendly your meals are! keep it up guys xx

alternatives to chia seeds? they end up too slimy for my liking. this is the main reason overnight oats haven't been successful for me.

I love overnight oats, so delicious. Full fat milk is better than low fat or no fat milk you guys are so right. I can't drink full cream though as I have a slight intolerance to regular milk, so I have to have almond or cashew milk. I love this he PB and jelly oats idea" yum

i love the pb recipe. i used to use vanilla protein powder but i wasnt sure if i could warm it up. but with the pb, i warm it up n i LOVE it! i experiment with different add ins. blackberries r one of my favs. thx so much n keep up the great work! 😃
